LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The Viking warriors are preparing to raise their horns one more time as Netflix prepares to release the last season of 'Vikings: Valhalla' on Thursday, July 11, 2024.

The show, a sequel to the smash blockbuster 'Vikings', aired its first season on February 25, 2022, immediately captivating viewers with its three main characters: Leif Eriksson (Sam Corlett), Freydis Eiríksdóttir (Frida Gustavsson), and Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter).

Season 2 concluded with the three protagonists, Freydis, Leif, and Harald, each going their separate ways. With characters inspired by real individuals and fictional storylines seamlessly integrated into the narrative, the upcoming season guarantees more epic conflicts, personal quests for power, and the unwavering pursuit of honor amid shifting alliances.

Season 2 of 'Vikings: Valhalla' had Leif, accompany Harald to Constantinople, where he met and fell in love with astronomer Mariam (Hayat Kamille).

By the conclusion of the season, it was revealed that Mariam had succumbed to her sickness, leaving Leif with her belongings, and forcing him to embark on his next journey, as hinted in the Season 3 teaser.

It is possible that still mourning Mariam, Leif goes on a heartfelt expedition to rescue belongings from her house, hinting at future adventures.

The teaser further hints that Leif and Harald would rejoin on arduous trips, maybe to Newfoundland, which promises a mix of historical discoveries and disputes over land and religion as it continues the compelling Viking story.

Will Freydis Eiríksdóttir's leadership continue to thrive in 'Vikings: Valhalla' Season 3?

The second season of the show was extremely exciting for Freydís as she established herself as a leader at Jomsborg. Season 3 may see her continue to hone her leadership abilities and face the challenges of protecting her people.

Additionally, Freydis will most likely be seen parenting her child, with Harald perhaps having a part depending on their relationship state.

However, if the series chooses to proceed with historical truth, Freydis may reach a dishonorable end.

As portrayed in the Saga of the Greenlanders, Freydis accompanies the brothers Helgi and Finnbogi on an expedition to Vinland, promising to split earnings equally.

However, once there, Freydis abandons their arrangement and when problems emerge, she falsely accuses the brothers of mistreating her in order to provoke her husband into vengeance.

He murders the brothers while they sleep, and Freydis organizes the killing of their camp's women. She threatens death to anybody who tells her brother Leif about her betrayal, who finally discovers the truth but refuses to punish her, foreseeing a dismal future for her descendants.

What will happen with Harald Sigurdsson in 'Vikings: Valhalla' Season 3?

Harald is another historically based character in the drama whose major adversary is his half-brother Olaf Haraldsson (Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson), both vying for the crown of Norway.

Harald travels to Constantinople in Season 2 to gather an army for his claim when his uncle refuses to help him.

Historically, also Harald had a half-brother, Olaf, who also wanted the crown and ultimately became king with Olaf's son, Magnus Olafsson (Stefán Haukur Jóhannesson).

As Season 3 is the last season of the series, it's possible that Harald's journey to the throne will be addressed in the show. Perhaps after Magnus's death, Harald will become the sole king of Norway and controversially claim the Danish crown.
