After teasing his brand new album ‘Dawn FM’ since May 2021 and promoting it aggressively in the first week of January, The Weeknd finally dropped his fifth studio album on leading streaming platforms on Friday, January 7. The Grammy-winning crooner seemed excited over the release of his new full-length record. He posted multiple tweets, minutes before it dropped, to interact with his massive fan following and keep them hyped up for the launch.

The Weeknd’s ‘Dawn FM’ soon grabbed the numero uno position on the trending list as music lovers shared their valuable opinion on the fresh Friday release. While many spoke about the singer’s ‘Don’t Break My Heart’ track, others took special note of Jim Carrey’s spoken word poetry on the last song called ‘Phantom Regret by Jim’ that evoked beautiful emotions. A few claimed that it reminded them of his 2004 hit movie ‘Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.’ ‘Dawn FM’ is a follow-up to The Weeknd’s highly-acclaimed fourth studio effort ‘After Hours,’ released in March 2020.

Jim Carrey steals the show on ‘Dawn FM’

Jim Carrey grabbed one of the top spots on the trending list — all thanks to his spoken word poetry on the last song of the album. In the 3-minute track, he narrates these words, “Do you remember them well?/ Were you high or just stoned?/ And how many grudges did you take to your grave?/ When you weren't liked or followed, how did you behave?/ Was it often a dissonant chord you were strumming?/ Were you ever in tune with the song life was humming?”

Jim Carrey on January 4 had praised the R&B crooner’s album as he got to hear it before the official release. In a tweet, he shared, “I listened to Dawn FM with my good friend Abel @theweeknd last night. It was deep and elegant and it danced me around the room. I’m thrilled to play a part in his symphony.” The Weeknd had talked about his friendship with the Hollywood legend back in August 2021. The 31-year-old crooner had said that they bonded over the love of telescopes, adding how the actor later took him out to breakfast after getting to know he lived two buildings down. In an interview with GQ, The Weeknd, said, “We’d been texting prior to that [30th birthday party]. And then, on my 30th birthday, [Carrey] surprised me. He just pulled up to my crib and took me to breakfast.” He added, “He lived literally like two buildings down from me. He had a telescope, and I had a telescope. He was like, “Where do you live? What floor do you live on?” I was like, Blah, blah, blah. And we looked out the windows on our telescopes and we could see each other.”
