Who was Karen Keagen? Texas mom mailing package to daughter mowed down by SUV driven by 84-yr-old
HOUSTON, TEXAS: A mother-of-two from Texas was killed when an SUV being driven by an 84-year-old woman collided with the post office's main entrance and ran over her. On Wednesday, November 30, 58-year-old Karen Keagen was in West Houston mailing a box to her daughter who was attending the University of North Texas. However, the SUV crashed through the Westheimer Station location's front door, pinning Keagen below, and killing her.
According to Houston police, the suspect was attempting to park at a USPS shop in a handicapped space. After that, she accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake, causing the car to crash through the front door before striking a wall inside the lobby and killing Keagan. The driver, who according to KHOU, resides in Keagan's neighborhood, was not intoxicated, as per the cops, but Harris County is looking into her driving history.

Speaking to KHOU, ADA Sean Teare stated, "We are going to turn over every stone. We are going to look at every single thing involved in this to ensure that it was exactly what it looks like, a tragic accident." However, Click 2 Houston said that it is unlikely that the driver will be charged in connection with the collision. She happened to live in the same neighborhood as Keagan.
One of Keagan's daughters revealed to KHOU 11 News how close she and her mother were. Melody Celedon, said of her mother on Friday, "I just love her. She's the best person I know. She's who I talk to every day. Like I text her about everything." She was concerned that the victim was her mother because she was aware that she was delivering mail to her sister, Larissa, at the post office at the time. Also, Larissa, took to Facebook to share the tribute to her mother. She wrote, "If anybody truly knows me or my sister, you would know that our mother is our entire world, and we were hers. The pain I am feeling from this is unlike anything I have ever felt before. I am heartbroken and I am at a loss for words or even room to comprehend this fully."
The two daughters, who are both in college, described their single mother as witty, eccentric, and hardworking in order to support them. The legacy of Karen Keagan is one of a pure spirit grounded in her faith. She spent the last five years of her life working at her local church, Chapelwood United Methodist Church. "Her deep devotion not only to her family but to the individuals around her is just phenomenal,” stated Bobby Wooley, the church’s director of communications. "Tragedy happens and it’s super unfortunate and we just remember all the families that are involved," as reported by Click 2 Houston.
