MOSCOW, IDAHO: As the investigation into the University of Idaho student killings continues, web sleuths can’t stop wondering what will happen to the house where the tragic murder took place. A Reddit poll asked users what should be the fate of the house where Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin were killed on November 13. The options were: Knock down and rebuild, Knock down and build a memorial, Leave as is, and Redo inside of home.
The poll has received 2.7k votes so far, with most Reddit users suggesting that the house should be knocked down and rebuilt altogether. A total of 997 out of those 2.7k voters opted ‘Knock down and rebuild’, while 725 were for 'Knockdown and build a memorial'. 'Leave as is' received the least number of votes (316 so far) while 624 prefer 'Redo inside of home' as of now.

Several users were keen to explain the rationale behind their choice. One user wrote, “Knock down and rebuild or redo the inside slowly then put it back on the market to rent in four years after most kids on campus have left. they’ll have a new crop of kids that won’t have the emotional tie to the house.” “I think the University/Board of trustees should make an offer to the property owner (assuming it’s privately owned?) and demolish the property and convert it into a small park/garden/memorial that both pays respect to the victims and provides students with a place to visit, sit outside and read on a sunny day, etc. Or some kind of student center/pavilion named in their honor. Just a thought. The University has the money to do it,” another added.
Someone noted, “I went to a college where a murder suicide happened. It was pretty gruesome as well, all they did was repaint and lower the price per semester.” “If the landlord chooses to keep it, renovate etc.. I would hope they install more security. Higher fences, cameras etc. Obviously too little too late, however would hopefully Instill some sort of sense of security to future tenants, given how open and visible everything is. I personally would never be able to move into a house with history like that, though,” yet another user remarked.
Meanwhile, the investigation is in its third week and cops are yet to make a breakthrough or any arrests. They are appealing to anyone with information to come forward. Anyone with information about the crime or a tip, or a suspicious person in the area is asked to call 208-883-7180 or email tipline@ci.moscow.id.us.
