LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Clipped', a six-part miniseries on Hulu, is based on 2014's true incident where a private conversation between Donald Sterling and his assistant/girlfriend, cost him his basketball team and the reputation he built over decades.

In 'Clipped' Episode 5, the NBA announced a lifetime ban on Donald Sterling (played by Ed O'Neill) along with a $2.5 million fine for his racist remarks in the leaked audio tape.

Adam Silver, Commissioner of the NBA also directed the Board of Governors to force Sterling to sell the Clippers.

While Shelly Sterling (JackiWeaver) and V Stiviano (Cleopatra Coleman) addressed the media, sharing their opinions on the entire scandal, Donald Sterling backed out of Barbara Walters's interview for the last time.

However, in the finale episode of 'Clipped', we expect a revisit to his interview with CNN where he intended to apologize for his remarks but ended up making things worse.

Why did Donald Sterling take his own sweet time to address the media?

So far, in the series, it appears that Donald Sterling isn't apologetic for his racist comments, which explains why he hasn't addressed the media.

Sterling missed his chance to apologize when he backed out of Barbara Walters's interview, where he, V Stiviano, and Magic Johnson were to appear together. When Johnson couldn't make it on time, Sterling too stepped behind.

Seeing everything slipping away, he finally gave an exclusive interview to CNN where he said that it was Magic Johnson who asked him to stay quiet.

Sterling said that Johnson told him: “Wait, be patient, I’ll help you, we’ll work it out."

In his CNN interview, Sterling repeatedly apologized for his remarks. He added that he isn't a racist and that V Stiviano "baited" him into saying those awful things.

Everything was fine until Magic Johnson's name came up. He bashed the former Los Angeles Lakers player, making derogatory remarks about his character and his battle with HIV.

In a conversation with Anderson Cooper on CNN, Sterling said, “What kind of a guy goes to every city, has sex with every girl, then he catches HIV? Is that someone we want to respect and tell our kids about?”

“I think he should be ashamed of himself. I think he should go into the background. But what does he do for the black people? He doesn’t do anything," he added.

Being Jewish, Sterling claimed that Jewish people often help poor Jews with money while accusing rich Black people of being selfish towards their own community.

Sterling said, “That’s one problem I have. Jews, when they get successful, they will help their people and some of the African-Americans – maybe I’ll get in trouble again – they don’t want to help anybody."

This was the last straw to the downfall of Sterling as there was no coming back from everything he said on national television.
