A former Russian beauty queen has been left disfigured after a cosmetic surgery went horribly wrong, turning her "beautiful, healthy face" into a "nightmare". 43-year-old Yulia Tarasevich was a runner-up in the Mrs Russia International Pageant held two years ago. Well-known for her beauty, the mother of two resorted to plastic surgery to maintain her youthful look.

However, the $4,000 surgery left her face with darkened patches all over while she is unable to close her eyes or smile. Tarasevich has now planned to sue her surgeons at a top clinic in Russia. Meanwhile, the accused surgeons Dr Andrey Komarov and Dr Omar Khaled have denied the allegations, claiming that her face was disfigured due to a rare genetic condition.

According to East2West News, Tarasevich shared, "I came to them with a beautiful, healthy face. I just wanted to correct some nuances caused by aging. But sadly, I lost my health."

She was undergoing a series of cosmetic procedures in Krasnodar, including a facelift surgery, blepharoplasty of the eyelids (the removal of excess skin), and cheek fat reduction.

But the procedure went haywire and she had to undergo emergency follow-up surgery to save herself from going blind. Another doctor performed critical surgery to save her eyes from necrosis. Even after recovery, Tarasevich is unable to close her eyelids or even smile with her lips. In fact, she needed over $27,000 for the follow-up surgery.

While her surgeons are blaming the genetic condition scleroderma for her facial disfigurement, Tarasevich has no symptoms of the autoimmune disease in any other of her body.

"I have scars that formed in my cheeks when they ripped out all my tissue. My eyes don’t close and I can’t smile. I can’t lift my upper lip. One part of my face doesn’t work at all,” she shared with East2West News.

She further added, “I went quietly to the operation, firstly, because all my tests were in order. Secondly, because I had plastic surgery before this, I did rhinoplasty, and it went perfectly for me, without any genetic abnormalities."

The surgeons' claim about scleroderma was refuted by the beauty queen, as she noted, “The surgeons made me the only one guilty for what has happened. The doctors, who disfigured my face, relieved themselves of all responsibility. I decided to have my day in court.”

The case is currently being investigated by The Russian Investigative Committee as the surgeons face allegations of flouting health and safety laws. “A forensic medical examination has been appointed to determine the severity of the harm to health, and other patients who could have suffered from poor-quality services in this clinic are also being identified," spokeswoman Anna Pushkina stated.
