Sara Gomez: Mom-of-two dies after botched liposuction with holes in kidney, liver
A mother-of-two died in hospital due to complications after undergoing a botched $6,483-liposuction operation in Spain. Cops have launched an investigation into the death of Sara Gomez, 39, and are looking into the private clinic, Clinica Galna, amid fears that the accused surgeon may try to flee the country. Gomez, who was from Alcantarilla, Spain, spent nearly a month in ICU before she died on December 2.
After the five-hour procedure, the surgeon allegedly told Gomez's family that "everything went well," but that she had lost a lot of fluid and they were working to stabilize her. Three hours later, she was rushed to the Hospital General Universitario Santa Lucia, where she was admitted for hypovolaemic shock and was declared to be in a serious condition. The cosmetic surgery was done to remove fat as well as cells to prevent more from being created.

Sara Gomez's brother Ruben Gomez described the entire situation as an "extreme reality" and said, "not even in the extreme can they imagine the reality that we are going through right now. They kept her waiting there for four hours, bleeding to death, and she came here in a near-fatal state," Rubin told the Mirror.
The mother-of-two sustained multiple serious injuries and holes in several organs, including her kidney, liver, colon, duodenum and intestine as a result of the liposuction procedure. Before the operation, Gomez reportedly told the doctor that she had already undergone this procedure before and the surgeon assured her it won't cause any problems. Gomez family's lawyer Ignacio Martinez described Sara's injuries as "more typical of the result of a knife fight". He said, "Many cosmetic surgery cases come to my association but what happened here is incomprehensible."
A member of the family has stated that they are awaiting autopsy results and they plan to file a complaint against the plastic surgeon in charge of the operation as soon as possible. Gomez's funeral has now taken place and she leaves behind a daughter and a young son. The investigation is still going on.
