Plot
Season 1 of Netflix's 'Young Wallander' is based on the bestselling novels by Henning Mankell. It is a modern reimagining of Kurt Wallander and looks into the formative years of the character as a 20-something beat cop and his move to Major Crimes. This first case of his career remains largely unsolved, and therefore, increases the possibility of Season 2.
While Netflix hasn't renewed the show yet, it is likely that Season 2 will take off from the events of the previous season and see Kurt solve another crime. At the same time, his guilt from this case will overflow into the new one and the series might also follow that.
Cast
Adam Pålsson as Kurt Wallander
Pålsson plays the role of Kurt Wallander, a rookie cop whose sudden promotion to Major Crimes means solving hard crimes. At the end of the season, he had quit the police force because he didn't feel justice was given to those affected. The actor is best known for his work on Jonas Gardell's series 'Don't Ever Wipe Tears Without Gloves', and for playing the lead role in 'Ted: För kärlekens skull'.
Leanne Best as Frida Rask
Best plays the role of Frida Rask, Kurt's senior at Major Crimes. The actress is known for her work on 'Ripper Street', for playing Celia Donnelly in 'Fortitude' and the titular role in 'The Woman In Black'.
Ellise Chappell as Mona
Chappell plays the role of Kurt's love interest Mona. By the end of Season 1, they had patched up their differences. The actress is known for playing Chynoweth in 'Poldark', Jennifer Strange in 'The Last Dragonslayer', Lucy in 'Yesterday' and Wendy Roberts in 'New Blood'.
Creators
'Young Wallander' is based on the books authored by Swedish crime writer Henning Mankell. His books were previously made into the BBC adaptation 'Wallander' that ran between 2008 and 2016. Ole Endresen and Jens Jonsson directed Season 1. Details about creators for Season 2 aren't out yet. We will update this article when it is out.
