LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The first season of ‘Yellowjackets’ ended on an ominous note and the survivors of the 1996 plane crash were now getting ready to welcome the winter. Meanwhile, in the present timeline, things were utterly chaotic for everyone who was a part of that crash and managed to somehow survive. Fans were eagerly waiting for Season 2 to arrive so that they can finally get answers to their burning question. However, if you are thinking that you will get some clear answers during the premiere, you are wrong. The premiere episode, titled ‘Friends, Romans, Countrymen’, is a satisfying first episode for a season that promises to be thrilling and filled with extraordinary sequences. The first episode also suggests that the first few episodes will be a slow burn, and viewers would have to wait a bit longer to get some concrete answers.

With that being said, there’s no doubt that we are heading toward another phenomenal season and the characters of the show are now facing things that they never imagined.

So, the premiere starts with the teens trapped in the wild and things start to become even more problematic for them because winter has arrived. Nat and Travis are now in the wild to search for food, while Travis also does everything to find his missing younger brother. Shauna continues to talk to Jackie’s frozen corpsicle in the shed and everyone feels really nervous when they get to know about this. On the other hand, Taissa is growing more violent in her sleep state and is putting Van in danger as they hide away from the group. It seems Taissa’s sleep problems have now turned out to be more aggressive and she quickly realizes that all the violent night terrors she endured during her teen years are now wreaking havoc on those around her.

Season premiere is a slow burn, but enthralling

Yes, there’s a lot going on in the premiere, but everything seems to be heading in one direction only. The best thing about the first episode is how it manages to juggle through these different timelines and storylines with so much ease. It also shows how the survivors are inching closer toward insanity and it’s only the beginning because things will start to get even more horrifying as when they remain stuck in the wild for a couple more years. Just like the first edition, viewers would have to watch the episode closely because they will get a lot of interesting clues to the unsettling mysteries in those small details.

‘Friends, Romans, Countrymen’ also indicates that the 1996 timeline is much more enthralling than the present one as of now, and it will get even more terrifying because the starvation has now started to kick in and some minor details during the premiere make us realize that they have FINALLY taken their first step toward cannibalism.

The writing is superb and the entire writing team should be applauded for handling so many stories so effectively. Meanwhile, the performances are really extraordinary and we should be glad that we are seeing such brilliant actors on our screens. Absolutely magnificent!
