MOSCOW, IDAHO: The Idaho murder suspect Bryan Kohberger's defense counsel, on January 23, reportedly received police reports and dossiers that were in possession of the state. Kohberger, a 28-year-old criminology student, is accused of stabbing four University of Idaho students, Ethan Chapin, 20, Xana Kernodle, 20, Kaylee Goncalves, 21, and Madison Mogen, 21, to death on November 13, 2022.
After weeks of investigation, police narrowed down their hunt to Kohberger as the primary suspect of the shocking quadruple murder in 2022 last year and arrested him from his parents' home in Pennsylvania on December 30, 2022. Among the disclosures provided by the state, including 995 pages of documents, one audio-visual file and 1,865 photos, one that has caught the attention of netizens is the mention of potential informants, whose identities have not been revealed.

Asking the court to deny some of the defendants' requests for discovery, including the identity of potential informants, prosecuting attorney William W. Johnson Jr, wrote in the court filing, "To the extent that information exists regarding an informant who is not going to be produced as a witness, including recordings or written statements of an informant or that identify an informant, such information is not subject to disclosure and the State asserts informant privilege," per Inside Edition.
'A credible informant': Internet curious about language used in court filing
Since the documents have been circulated online, it has led to several questions in the minds of netizens who have been following the murder case closely. Sharing a screenshot of the filing that mentions that the state objected to requests by the defendant, including information regarding an informant, a Twitter user wrote, "The Discovery response by the Prosecutor shows there's an informant. And that Bryan Kohberger can't figure out who the informant is. Meaning, there's multiple individuals who could be the informant. Realistically, everyone who could be an informant, took part in #idahohomicides."

Commenting on it, a user opined that the filing was suggestive that the Idaho murder was the "work of many". "Facts, including Discovery response by the prosecutor, (so many who could've been the informant & concealing exculpatory evidence), show that #idahohomicides is work of many; those at the crime scene as roommates, those close to #bryankohberger as his WSU and DeSales professors," the user wrote.

Several others too were curious if the police were able to narrow down on the suspect based on information they received from a person or a group of people. "In my professional assessment on the suspect responsible for the murders Moscow Idaho, a credible informant that knows the suspect cooperated or provided the Moscow Police with the information," wrote a Twitter user, while another commented, "Interesting UPDATE on the Idaho 4 case. Why was the game and parks involved? Why is there language about a codefendant? And a possible Informant?"
