MOSCOW, IDAHO: Bryan Kohberger, a 28-year-old PhD student, is accused of murdering Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin on November 13, 2022. Following his arrest on December 30, 2022, he was charged with four counts of first-degree murder and one count of felony burglary.
While the majority of people around the world, particularly in the United States, have expressed their hatred for him, a few Internet users still wonders if Kohberger is "innocent" and what will be the consequences if he is not proven guilty. Following that, one of the Redditors reckoned whether Kohberger can "sue" the police department.

The Reddit user "hypothetically" assumed and wrote, "Hypothetically speaking, what if BK is actually innocent and he can prove it? Can he sue the police department and everyone officially involved for ruining his life?" The user further added, "I'm not saying he's innocent I'm just wondering…. In the off chance he has the worst luck in the world and he's innocent, they have completely ruined and altered his life so I'm wondering if there would be any course of action for him? Any lawyers on here know?"
Another user on the same thread wrote, "Then he should sue the police department. But I don't think the police department would make such a huge blunder. This case is too huge. Remember the rosenburgs? They were accused of spying, I believed them to be innocent for years. There arrest happened under the McCarty era when everybody was being accused of communism. Turns out they were guilty. It was a huge case, just like this kohberger case." The user further added, "I don't think or I can't believe the cops would make such a huge mistake. There jobs are at stake cause if he's innocent, some of these cops should be fired."
Following the heinous murders, the Internet has been flooded with conspiracy and arbitrary theories about the victims and the suspect. However, the police waited until Kohberger's arrest to reveal some crucial details about the case. Following Kobherger's first court appearance, some critical information was made public.
About Bryan Kohberger's arrest and trial
On December 30, Kohberger was apprehended at his parents' home in eastern Pennsylvania, more than 2,000 miles from Moscow. After being extradited to Idaho, he was transferred to the Latah County Jail late on January 4. As previously reported by MEAWW, Kohberger is the only suspect in the case. The suspect was already on the authorities' radar before he was apprehended.
Police worked tirelessly to locate him, collecting cellphone data and tracking down his white Hyundai Elantra. Further, the judge has already imposed a gag order in the case, therefore, attorneys on bkth sides, witnesses, and even the victims' families aren't allowed to talk about the case publicly. On January 12, Kohberger gave up his right to an immediate preliminary hearing. The following hearing will reportedly occur on June 26.
