Woman sues Andrew Cuomo for being unable to see sick husband in nursing facility despite both being vaccinated
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) found himself in hot water again after a woman sued him. The woman claimed that she was unable to see her husband, who is a US veteran, in a nursing facility, despite both of them being vaccinated.
According to TMZ, who obtained the a copy of the lawsuit, Mary Mauro is "desperately" trying to see her husband, Mario Mauro, whom she has been married to for 60 years. Mauro is a US veteran with advanced Alzheimer's disease and is a resident of the Long Island State Veterans Home nursing facility, where he has been since January this year. In the documents obtained by TMZ, Mary claims that Cuomo's statewide Covid-19 policies are prohibiting her from entering the nursing facility. According to the lawsuit, Mary claims that as a result, Mario has lost more than 30 pounds as she is not able to help feed him, and so, the lawsuit claims that Mario's life is in danger.

Mary also claims that she is unable to make proper medical decisions for him and adds that they are being kept "from ever seeing each other again in a meaningful way". She thinks that Cuomo's Covid-19 statewide restrictions make no sense in her case because both she and Mario are fully vaccinated. TMZ says the lawsuit also mentions that Mario already had Covid-19 and recovered. The Mauros are suing Cuomo, the Long Island State Veterans Home nursing facility and New York State Health Commissioner Dr Howard Zucker, according to TMZ, which also states that the Mauros are seeking damages and want the rules to be changed so that Mary can visit Mario.
Cuomo has come under fire over the past few months after it was found that the New York Governor and his aides had underreported more than 9,000 nursing home deaths from the Covid-19 virus in June 2020. According to reports, Cuomo's senior aides were reluctant to make the data public and rewrote the report with altered data. The governor allegedly went ahead with false reports to propel his position as a national leader in the battle against the pandemic.
Cuomo has also recently accused of sexual harassment by multiple women, including Lindsey Boylan, a former aide, who claimed that he kissed her and asked her to play strip poker with him. Cuomo denied the allegations. Anna Ruch, a third accuser, has claimed Cuomo tried to kiss her at the 2019 wedding of top gubernatorial aide Gareth Rhodes. A picture later emerged showing the governor touching her face, but he responded by saying kissing and touching people were just his ways of greeting people.
Cuomo has declined to resign from the post of the Governor of New York, asking people to not judge him until the attorney general completes her investigations into the allegations.
