Woman, 31, fatally mowed down by hit-and-run driver possibly fleeing knife fight outside NYC bar
QUEENS, NEW YORK: A woman, 31, died after a hit-and-run driver “intentionally” mowed her down as he fled a possible knife fight, police said. The woman was killed following a fight at a nearby Queens nightclub where four people were allegedly slashed. The knife fight began just before 2:45 am on Saturday, September 24, outside the Showtime Bar & Lounge at 119-12 101st Ave, Queens. Four men were hurt in the altercation.
At the time, the NYPD was responding to two calls at the same time -- one of a pedestrian who was struck at 120th Street and 97th Avenue and another of a huge group that was involved in a fight two blocks away. Cops found the woman lying on the street with massive body trauma. She was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where she was declared dead.

The woman was allegedly hit by a driver in a white sedan. However, authorities did not say whether the person was involved in the stabbing. The stabbing reportedly left one man, 23, stabbed in the torso; another, 32, with a slash wound to the face and two other men, both 40, slashed in the face too. The 40-year-old victims are believed to have been hit by the same white sedan too.
The tragic incident left residents shaken. An office manager called Gilbert, 46, woke up from his sleep when he heard a man shouting, New York Post reported. “Get up! Please get up!” he heard the man yelling. He then looked out his window to see first responders trying to revive the woman hit by the sedan. “I could not go back to sleep. I was rolling around in the bed for a while. It was hard,” Gilbert said. “It’s sad. It’s really sad." Gilbert said he saw chunks of the vehicle’s bumper in the street.
A neighborhood resident and truck driver, 32-year-old Johnny, thinks Showtime Bar & Lounge is not a good place. “It’s always a problem there. There have been shootings, stabbings…There’s always something going on. It’s never the people that live around here. They park their cars, get into beef, walk back to the cars and stuff happens,” he claimed.
“I want it closed. Everybody around here wants it closed,” he added. “There are kids around here, I have kids…..nothing happens during the day but you never really know. New York, in general, is getting bad.” No arrests have been made in the case yet.
