While fans eagerly await the upcoming premiere of ‘SWAT Exiles’, the show has received a major update. The ‘SWAT’ spin-off has already been picked up for a second season, and lead cast member Shemar Moore, who plays Sergeant Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson Jr., shared a video update about the same. In an August 11 Instagram post, he announced the big news. The caption read, “Another W for the fam: #SWATExiles has been picked up for a second season!” In the clip, Moore said, in his unique style, “What’s goodie? Shemar Moore in the building. You also know me as Daniel Hondo Harrelson. Mama, here come that man. I got such great news.”

Further in the video, Moore added, “SWAT Exiles just got picked up for season two, baby. That’s right. We start shooting in a couple of months, but first, mark your calendars! Because season one is coming. September 25th exclusively on STARZ. Where? I said STARZ! Check out SWAT Exiles. It’s your boy. Let’s get it.” Notably, filming for the second season is expected to begin soon. The official logline for the debut season reveals what to expect from the spin-off show. It reveals that “after a high-profile mission goes sideways,” Hondo is pulled out of forced retirement “to lead a last-chance experimental S.W.A.T. unit made up of untested, unpredictable young recruits.”

The logline further reads, “Hondo must bridge a generational divide, navigate clashing personalities, and turn a squad of outsiders into a team capable of protecting the city and saving the program that made him who he is.” Jason Ning serves as the showrunner, along with EPs Moore, Neal H. Moritz, and Pavun Shetty, who also happen to be producers of the OG ‘SWAT’ film. The team of EPs also includes Jon Cowan and James Scura.

Esprit as Commander Robert Hicks. Newly added cast members include Ronen Rubinstein as Jude Callan, Freddy Miyares as Ethan Cole, Zyra Gorecki as Cassidy Han, Lucy Barrett as Samantha Bishop, and Adain Bradley as Malik Henderson.
