'Why isn’t Bryan accepting mail/books?'
Starting a thread on a subreddit dedicated to discussions on Kohberger, Redditor lovelyluxlee posed the question as to why the Idaho murder suspect was not accepting any mails or books. Elaborating on the question, the user wrote, "I knew a girl in my early 20s whom went away to fed prison on meth charges. It didn’t take her but a few months to have someone set up those jail personal ads for her. Do you think Bryan isn’t keeping or responding to mail because his lawyer told him not to? He’s got to be awfully lonely in there."
Replying, a user opined that maybe Kohberger has been advised not to accept anything. "I’m not sure if this is normally the case, but all the letters sent to Chris Watts while he was awaiting trial had to be entered into discovery. So maybe he’s been advised not to accept anything so it’s less they need to submit to discovery to be scrutinized," the user wrote. Another Redditor commented, "I think that it's what you said, his lawyer advised him not to communicate with anyone at this time because he might say something incriminating, and/or his communications with people might be made public or sold to the media." "I feel like he is smart enough to know not to respond to anyone at this time, and his lawyer has definitely advised him not to imo. It's too risky for him, and anyone he responded to could sell him out to the media," wrote a third.
What is the evidence against Bryan Kohberger?
As per the probable cause affidavit released on January 5, the evidence against Kohberger included his phone data that suggested that he was in the area of where the murders took place at least 12 times before the killings. Dylan Mortensen, a survivor who was in the area when the murders took place, had also seen a suspect leaving, and provided some details about his appearance though she wasn't able to see his face clearly.
On January 18, police revealed the evidence they recovered from Kohberger's Washington apartment, which included possible animal hair strands, disposable gloves and items with red and brown stains. Apart from these, the strongest circumstantial evidence against the Idaho suspect was his vehicle, a white Hyundai Elantra that was reportedly seen driving past the slain students' home on the day of and after the murders, and a knife sheath recovered form the crime scene that had Kohberger's DNA on it.
