Hulu show explores Donald Sterling and V Stiviano's bizarre relationship that sparked chaos in the LA Clippers
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Hulu's latest sports drama series 'Clipped' revolves around Donald Sterling's 2014 scandal that cost him his team and reputation.
The miniseries showcases his relationship with his assistant V Stiviano who recorded their private conversations and leaked a sensational audio clip to TMZ in which he was heard making racist remarks against African-Americans.
In the debut episodes, Shelly Sterling (Donald Sterling's wife) slaps Stiviano with a $2.5 million lawsuit accusing her of being a gold digger preying on Donald Sterling.
While it is widely believed that Sterling showered Stiviano with expensive gifts in return for sex, Stiviano claims that they have never been physically intimate.
Donald Sterling and V Stiviano's 'sex' scandal amid racist comments
When the scandal made headlines in 2014, Sterling acknowledged having a sexual relationship with Stiviano. A report by Daily Mail quoted Sterling saying that his ex-girlfriend V Stiviano “was an animal” in the bed and that “everybody in the world wants to f**k her".
He added, "I am an 80-year-old man and tried to make it with a girl. I did it before. It wasn’t easy … she has a fabulous body and loves to have s**."
“I’m talking to a girl. I’m trying to have sex with her. I’m trying to play with her. If you were trying to have sex with a girl and you’re talking to her privately and you don’t think anybody’s there, you may say anything in the world. Then, if the girl tapes it and releases it, my God it’s awful. Who thinks anybody’s gonna tape something?" Sterling defended his racist comment during a conversation taped by a pal and obtained by Radar Online.
Contrary to Sterling's claims, Stiviano asserted that she never slept with Sterling.
V Stiviano claimed Donald Sterling is gay
In her legal documents filed against Shelly Sterling's lawsuit, Stiviano said that Donald Sterling is gay and she's been his 'beard' all along, meaning that she existed in his life so that people wouldn't suspect his homosexuality.
As reported by Daily News, according to the filing, "V.S. was D.T.S’s beard for three years prior to the filing of suit. V.S. is informed and believes that (Sterling) is a homosexual and enjoys sexual acts and or sexual congress with males."
She even claimed that she wasn't the only one who received gifts from Sterling. She named a male friend of Sterling who accompanied them on overseas trips, reports KSBW Action News 8.
In an interview with Barbara Walters for ABC, Stiviano said that she saw Sterling as a "father figure".
Amid the accusations, they both lost things closer to their hearts. While Stiviano was ordered to give up her duplex and luxurious cars, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver forced Sterling to sell the LA Clippers and pay a $5 million fine.
Hulu's 'Clipped' will explore their complicated relationship in six episodes.
