Where is V Stiviano now? 'Clipped' explores the sordid Donald Sterling scandal that almost brought down the LA Clippers
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: V Stiviano, who was embroiled in a scandal with Donald Sterling almost a decade ago, has been laying low these days.
Stiviano aka Maria Vanessa Perez was Donald Sterling’s mistress/assistant/ex-girlfriend who used to record all the private conversations that happened between them. Stiviano leaked one of the audio tapes when Sterling's wife intervened in their affair and sued Stiviano for $2.5 million.
The controversial audio tape that cost Donald Sterling his reputation
As showcased in ESPN’s '30 for 30' podcast series titled, 'The Sterling Affairs' and Hulu's 'Clipped', Sterling made racist remarks against Black people after he saw a photo of Stiviano with Magic Johnson.
Sterling said, “It bothers me a lot that you want to broadcast that you’re associating with black people… You can sleep with [black people]. You can bring them in, you can do whatever you want”, but “the little I ask you is … not to bring them to my games.”
The recordings were released by TMZ in April 2014 which eventually led to Sterling's ban from the NBA and was fined $2.5 million by the league, as reported by Time on April 29, 2014.
What happened to V Stiviano after the scandal?
In the legal battle against Sterling's wife, Stiviano lost $2.6 million duplex that Donald Sterling had bought for her.
She was also ordered by the judge to return a Ferrari, two Bentleys and a Range Rover that she received as gifts from Sterling.
Since the scandal, Stiviano has been keeping away from the limelight. She has made very few public appearances. In 2018, TMZ spotted her in Los Angeles, where she was asked about her opinion of Roseanne Barr’s racist remarks which led to the comedian's removal from her sitcom.
Asserting that everyone's a little bit racist, she said, “Everyone’s making such a big deal over every small little thing. No one has freedom of speech anymore! No one can say what they feel because if they do, they’re gonna lose their job.”
V Stiviano also had an Instagram page which has now been deactivated as of June 4, 2024.
As she likes to keep her life private, there's not much information about where she lives and what she does for a living. Her romantic relationships are also unknown.
