Who will Jenn Tran meet in Marcus Shoberg's Hometown Date? 'The Bachelorette' skips family interaction
SEATTLE, WASHINGTON: Following the 'The Bachelorette' Season 21 show from August 12, we now know that Devin Strader, Jeremy Simon, Jonathan Johnson, and Marcus Shoberg are Jenn Tran's final four. This implies that these guys will also have Hometown dates, which is rather significant for 'The Bachelor' franchise.
Marcus, according to a Reddit discussion regarding Jenn's season of 'The Bachelorette', is not close to his parents. In fact, spoiler specialist Reality Steve revealed before the season that "Marcus does not have a great relationship with his parents," thus his Hometown date was recorded in Washington, where many of his Army colleagues reside.
Even though Marcus doesn't disclose anything to Jenn until the 'The Bachelorette' Monday episode, it's still far too little, too late. He realizes that he has to open up to her in order for them to go ahead together, and Jenn likes the way he opens up to her about his family and his challenging upbringing.
Who are 'The Bachelorette' Season 21 suitor Marcus Shoberg's parents?
Marcus opens up to Jenn about his parents and the challenges he endured as a child in foster care. He discloses to her in the most recent episode that he had a difficult upbringing, and that her own experience with her father's absence "struck a chord" with him.
He does not immediately disclose what his life is like today or if his parents are still in his life, but the narrative he tells about being left at a childcare facility with his sister makes both him and Jenn sad. Marcus tells Jenn on their one-on-one date that he and his sister were placed in foster care when they were children after their biological parents abandoned them at daycare and never returned.
According to Marcus, potential adoptive parents would "change their mind," and he and his sister would be returned to foster care. This shaped much of Marcus's childhood.
"My sister and I, when we were young, when we were kids, were kind of born into a pretty rough situation," Marcus said to Jenn.
"We had parents who couldn't really take care of us. They were a bit unstable, and they weren't fit to be parents, and they brought us to daycare one day and just never came back for us. And that was the start of a very rough chapter in my childhood. Like, I had to take on the role of looking after my sister."
'The Bachelorette' Season 21 suitor Marcus Shoberg was adopted later in life
Marcus and his sister spent part of their youth in foster care, but they were eventually adopted. Marcus does not tell Jenn about his adopted parents or if he has contact with his biological parents, but his mother, Dawn Shoberg of Minnesota, told the Star Tribune that her son is competing on Season 21 of 'The Bachelorette'.
Does Marcus Shoberg win Jenn Tran's last rose in 'The Bachelorette'?
According to the spoilers, Marcus advances to the final two. Jenn and Devin eventually get engaged, though.
Watch 'The Bachelorette' Season 21 on Mondays at 8 pm EST on ABC.
