MAUI COUNTY, HAWAII: Firefighter Tre Evans Dumaran's family decided to let the 24-year-old die quietly after a "roller coaster" week in the hospital since "no negotiations" were successful. When he was rescuing the island residents on Friday, January 27, during a blizzard, Evans was carried down a storm drain which ended 800 yards away. His death was confirmed by Maui County on February 4.

In response to "hazardous weather" that included heavy rain and forced road closures, a flood warning was issued for Maui at the time, according to a news release from the office of Hawaii Governor Josh Green.

He remained in Maui Memorial Medical Center's critical care unit until his death on February 4 morning, as per the news release. He was stated making 'slow' but positive and promising signs of recovery 'with multiple life-saving measures in place'.

However, the unexpected turn of events ultimately resulted in his death and left his mother Chelsie Evans crying for the rest of her life.  "Ok, Lord. I hear you loud and clear. Your plan. No negotiations. No plea agreements. Your plan. Your plan was put in to place when I told Tre' it was ok to go." Chelsie Evans who organized the fundraiser wrote in a heartfelt update on GoFundMe, confirming his death.

'Every, single, day of my life I will be crying out to you'

"That I will carry the pain of missing him for the rest of my life if it meant no more pain, no more suffering when I realized my negotiations with you were no good. But Lord, hear me. You created THE most amazing soul and you gifted him to a teenage girl not ready to be a mom, but I took you up for the challenge. I loved that gift more than I knew a 15-year-old's heart could bare. I did my very best, although imperfect, to care for this beautiful gift with my whole being," She continued.

"Yesterday. You took your gift back. He was yours to begin with. I understand. But hear me. Every, single, day of my life I will be crying out to you, demanding that you take care of my baby," she added.  She detailed the events and ups and downs on the page and website too, in his health as he continued to remain sedated and on a ventilator. Once on February 2, moving his foot. "His nurse lifted the bedsheets and showed us his foot. We continued to talk to him and tell him we are here". "Squeeze my hand baby, mommyʻs right here," she told him.

'This is a reminder of that risk and the courageous work they do for all of us'
