DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA: A woman, who reportedly had a history of getting trapped inside storm drains, was rescued by officers of the Delray Beach Police Department. The person has been identified as Lyndsey Jane Kennedy, who reportedly called the cops while being “possibly in distress."

In a statement, the police said that the incident happened on Wednesday, January 18, around 12 in the afternoon. The official release stated that they got a call from “the canal near the 500-block of Lindell Boulevard." It read, “When officers asked if the woman needed help, she ignored them and climbed into a storm drain pipe. The woman refused to come out and began crawling farther into the culvert pipe, which crossed under Lindell Boulevard.”

Thanks to the firefighters and workers of the Delray Beach Fire Rescue Special Operations Team, Kennedy was safely pulled out from the drain. She did not suffer any major injuries and was eventually taken to the hospital for examination. The statement added, “Back in March 2021, Kennedy was also rescued from a storm drain by Delray Beach Fire Rescue.”

At the time, fire rescue spokeswoman Dani Moschella reportedly said that a woman first saw Kennedy below a drain near Atlantic Avenue and SW 11th Avenue. The spokeswoman had told CBS News, “Traffic was rushing by and she was on her phone when she heard somebody screaming."

She continued, “When she looked down in the storm drain, there's a woman down there. Our Special Operations team responded and used a ladder and a harness to get the woman out. She wasn't wearing any clothes, she was dirty and disheveled.” However, that was not it because in May the same year, she was taken out from a storm drain in Grand Prairie, Texas, after she vanished for days. CBS12 reported at the time that Kennedy’s health was not in good state as she had psychosis and PTSD.

Meanwhile, the recent rescue has attracted a lot of comments on Facebook as a user wrote, “Again? Wtf? Poor lady! She did this again in another state as well after the first initial time in delray! Now this is the 3rd time.” The second user commented, “Kind of surprised she hasn't run into a gator yet. She has done this three times that we know of. How many times that no one knows of.” “She needs help so community resources are not continuously wasted on this effort if she’s just going to crawl back in there!!” the third one mentioned.

A fourth user said, “What is with this woman? Rescued 3 times from storm drains? Twice in Florida and once in Texas? I saw that she deals with substance use. I'm so glad I got clean for good years ago or apparently I could be swimming in one right now. Hopefully they sent her to a psych unit or dual diagnosis once she was evaluated at the hospital.” A fifth one shared, “.... Wow. I remember her from 2021. Some people don't want to be helped, and sometimes our system just fails them. Very sad.” “So the moral of the story is Kennedy should be banned from storm drain pipes?” a person added.
