'Survivor' 50 Episode 5 recap: Two tribes come under fire in this week's brutal double elimination
This week's episode of 'Survivor' 50 had another trick up its sleeve that left fans speechless. Host Jeff Probst told the remaining castaways in Episode 5, titled 'Open Wounds,' that there would be two eliminations and two vote-outs. The team that won the swimming and bag-tossing challenge would be safe, but the other two teams would head to Tribal Council. The Kalo tribe continued its streak by winning the immunity challenge, forcing the Vatu and Cila tribes to start plotting about whom to eliminate. At the end of Episode 5, which aired on March 25, Angelina Keeley was voted out 4-1 by the Vatu tribe, and Charlie Davis was eliminated 4-3 from the Cila tribe.
The episode began with the Vatu tribe still reeling from Mike White's elimination last week. Ozzy was furious about being kept out of the loop by his supposed allies, which led to him casting the lone vote for Angelina. He threw a post-tribal temper tantrum over Christian leading the charge to vote out 'The White Lotus' creator. But Christian tried to mend Ozzy's broken trust by handing him his Shot in the Dark, leaving him vulnerable at the next Tribal Council. In a risky move, the tribe banded together to vote out Angelina unanimously in the night's first Tribal Council. All Angelina could say as her torch was snuffed out was, "Well, they got me." She, however, did leave her jacket behind for the tribe, as a nod to her jacket-gate moment from 'Survivor: David vs. Goliath.' Her tribe members didn't seem too upset over her departure, with Emily calling it "an easy vote." With that, the Vatu tribe has lost three members in quick succession, leaving just four behind: Christian, Ozzy, Emily, and Stephenie.
Meanwhile, the Cila tribe was not as united as Vatu when it came down to eliminations. The tribe was split into two factions: on one side were the guys - Jonathan, Rick, and Charlie - and on the other side were the girls - Dee, Cirie, and Kamilla. Rizo knew that he was being singled out by the guys. However, the Rizmaster isn't one to go down without a fight, so he cozied up to the ladies' gang. Rizo himself admitted, "I'm not a guy's guy," in the episode. Additionally, Charlie's growing resentment toward Rizo came to a head as the vote-out ended in a tight 4-3 finish, with Jonathan, Rick, and Charlie voting for Rizo, and Cirie, Dee, Kamilla, and Rizo voting out Season 46's runner-up, Charlie. After this week's brutal double elimination, tune in to see who will be on the chopping block next week. New episodes of 'Survivor' 50 air at 8 p.m. on Wednesdays on CBS and can be streamed the next day on Paramount+.
