FRANCONIA, NEW HAMPSHIRE: A 21-year-old college boy died last week in a skiing accident at Cannon Mountain, a state-owned ski resort in Franconia, New Hampshire, according to authorities. Benjamin Bennett, a seasoned skier, went missing on January 18 after becoming separated from a group of friends while skiing. Bennett was discovered in the bushes off the Upper Ravine trail after being absent for 90 minutes, according to the Summit patrol crew.

Who was Benjamin Bennett?
According to his obituary, Benjamin Joseph Bennett, also known as Ben, was a 21-year-old neuroscience student at the University of New Hampshire. His friends described him as a joyful and vivacious person who was genuinely liked by everyone who knew him. “His friends and family remember him affectionately as someone who lived his life to the fullest,” the obituary said. “He is known by all as being someone who was funny, kind, generous, intelligent, and hard-working. Ben knew no strangers and made every person feel like they were the most important person in the room,” the obituary further states. "Overall, he was just a pure human being. There's not a soul that didn't like Ben," said friend Paige Hamel, as reported by Boston.com.
Bennett's sister, Katie Bennett, expressed her hope that people will carry on her brother's legacy by improving the lives of others. "Any amount of kindness that you can show somebody else would order because he was always, always, always showing kindness to everybody he met," Katie Bennett said.
Bennett leaves behind 12 siblings in addition to his parents. To assist with the funeral expenses, fundraising has been organized. The Crossroads Church in Pelham will host a celebration of life service for all family members and friends on Wednesday, January 25, at 7 pm, reported Boston 25 Now.
This is the second skier fatality in three days at a ski resort in New Hampshire. At the Gunstock Mountain Resort on Monday, January 23, a 15-year-old girl named Gilford perished in a skiing accident. Sydnie Quimby, a freshman at Gilford High School, was seen by witnesses, according to Gunstock's president and general manager, to have veered off a trail and collided with some rocks and trees. After being taken to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Quimby died from her wounds.
