After a string of dark comedy projects in 'Silent Night' and 'Laggies', two-time Oscar nominee Keira Knightley will once again star in the genre. This time, she will accompany Oscar-winning actress Alicia Vikander. The two lead a slew of immensely talented cast in 'The Worst', a British dark comedy. Furthermore, the film is helmed by Simon Woods, who made his directorial debut.

Per Variety, the feature is labeled a 'wickedly entertaining class satire' and stars Jamie Dornan and Erin Kellyman in key roles. According to the outlet's description, ''The Worst' centers on socialite Emily Fisher (Vikander) and her husband Max as they invite their equally wealthy friends to their new chateau in France for the night." However, the guests comprise a group of people who can't stand each other. Holly (Knightley), who plays a struggling diversity consultant, clashes with everyone, while Danny (Dornan), who plays a quick-witted talent agent, has a habit of name-dropping his clients. Waitress Niamh (Kellyman) finds herself in the middle of the chaos and the drama that unfolds as the evening goes on.

In a statement issued, Woods called the film 'full of twists and turns'. He further added, "I want audiences to have a great time watching ‘The Worst’ -- to be drawn in by these vivid, over-the-top comic characters, their messy, uncomfortable relationships, and the squirm of it all. I want to dare the audience to like these people, bringing them right up to the line of almost agreeing with them, and in doing so hold a satirical mirror up to the moment we’re living in."

Woods serves as the writer of the film and is known for 'Such a Lovely Day'. He also worked on 'Pride and Prejudice' and HBO’s 'Rome'. The film is produced by Andy Berg, John Sachs, and Josh Hyams. Frédéric Fiore, Ryan Wickers, and Andrei Kamarowsky come in as executive producers. Dave Bishop, James Pugh, and George Hamilton round up the list. At the time of writing, there is no official release date for 'The Worst' yet. There is no date announced for the film's principal photography either.

Bishop also teased what to expect from the film, while praising the director: "Simon Woods is one of the most exciting talents to emerge in film, both as a writer and director. His new feature takes us on a breathtaking ride through every emotion you can imagine, filled with great moments of humor, surprise, and unexpected, horrific twists. We are excited to be working with Simon and the amazing ensemble his brilliant script has attracted, tasked to bring his vision and these love-to-hate-to-love characters to life."

Knightley will be seen in Season 2 of Netflix's 'Black Doves'. The spy thriller was a hit with the audience as it followed Knightley's Helen working for a spies-for-hire organisation that secures secrets for the highest bidder. The series also starred Ben Whishaw and Sarah Lancashire. Vikander has two projects, 'Hope' and 'The Last Day', both currently in post-production.
