BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA: A 41-year-old woman was found dead on her doorstep with "serious injuries" in the Bordesley Green area of Birmingham on Friday, January 28. Marina Shaban, a "loving" mother-of-four was found lying on the pavement by paramedics. She tragically died soon after and is said to have suffered critical injuries. 

West Midlands Police took to Facebook to confirm the news of Shaban's death, saying, "A woman who died in Birmingham on Friday (28 January) has been named as Marina Shaban as her family pay a loving tribute. We found the 41-year-old woman with serious injuries in the entrance of a property on North Holme, Bordesley Green shortly after 7 pm. Sadly nothing could be done to save her, and she died at the scene; a forensic post mortem examination is due to take place tomorrow (31 January) to establish a cause of death."

The devastated family of the "loving, caring and dedicated" mom paid tribute to Shaban and urged anybody with information to come forward while the murder investigation is underway. "A loving, caring and dedicated mother with a fantastic personality and real zest for life was tragically taken from us before her time," the family said in a statement. "She leaves behind four children and a huge family who loved, admired and cared for her deeply. "The entire family are absolutely devastated by her death and ask that we are given space to grieve, however, urge anyone with information to please come forward," they added. 

A post-mortem is scheduled to be performed on Monday, January 31. Reportedly, West Midlands Police are scanning CCTV footage that could help in the investigation. They have also urged witnesses ho may have seen the incident in the "busy" area to come forward. "Our thoughts are with the woman's family at this really sad time," DI Jim Colclough from the force’s homicide unit said.

"They are now being supported by specialist officers as they come to terms with what has happened," he said. "Our investigations are in the early stages, and a scene is currently being held around Garrison Lane as we continue to forensically examine the area."

Motorists who may have been around North Holme at the time of the murder have also been asked to check their dashcam. "We know this will be a huge shock to neighbours and the local community," Inspector Harjit Ubhi said. "There is an increase in police presence around the area to offer reassurance to people with concerns." "This is truly a tragic incident and my heart goes out to Marina’s family, who are being supported by specialist officers," he added.
