Julius Jones' death sentence was communicated to life in prison without parole just hours before he was supposed to walk to the gallows. Kim Kardashian along with other relevant voices and the general public had advocated for Jones' right to live. Jones has been in jail for more than 20 years during which he has;t been able to hug his family even once, according to Kardashian's appeal note for him. She said Jones was innocent and was present at the wrong place at the wrong time leading to him being caught. Her appeal was one of the factors that helped Jones get clemency after which she thanked governor Kevin Stitt for it. However, the internet is not convinced Stitt is the hero he's being made out to be. 

Jones was scheduled to be executed by lethal injection on November 18 for the 1999 fatal shooting of Oklahoma businessman, Paul Howell. Jones was supposed to be administered the injection at 4 pm at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester and they found out he was being granted clemency during his final visit with his attorneys. He had been given his last meal in the evening on November 17. After the halt on the execution, Jones' attorney Amanda Bass said this was an "important step towards restoring public faith in the criminal justice system by ensuring that Oklahoma does not execute an innocent man."

Who is Kevin Stitt's wife?

Kevin Stitt has been married to Sarah since 1998 and the two are parents to six children. Before serving as Oklahoma's First Lady, she spent 20 years cultivating a friendly working environment at Gateway Mortgage. Causes close to her heart which she strongly supports with the resources and position she commands include advocating for people suffering from mental health issues and the ones who have experienced an adverse childhood.

Coming back to Stitt communicating Jones' execution to life imprisonment, people on the Internet have particularly taken offense for him waiting till 12:45 pm CT on November 18 to make the decision. "Don't make Kevin Stitt out as a hero. He knew his decision, and he chose to wait until 4 HOURS before the execution to announce it. Julius's family had said their final goodbyes. Julius had been given his last meal and his final rites. How is that not cruel and inhumane?" a tweet read. "Kevin stitt is so sick bc he knew what he was going by eating mere hours before the execution to make his decision," a second tweeted. "If you know anything about the process of how an execution is carried out then you know what Kevin Stitt did was planned to look like some sort of savior, we're not buying it at all. #JusticeforJulius #JuliusJones" a third wrote. "Today he came within hours of losing his life before that colossal prick Kevin Stitt commuted his sentence. Mentally, how do you process that? You’ve eaten your “last meal”, you’ve reconciled with your fate. What is Julius’ mental state going to be now?" another tweet read.
