Days before Theresa Balboa's stepson Samuel Olson's body was found, her neighbor Tiffany Schultz heard 'loud scratching through the wall at 3 am'

An exclusive report on the case of six-year-old Samuel Olson's death has brought out shocking details. According to the Sun, days before Olson, Theresa Balboa's stepson, was found, her neighbors heard "loud scratching through the wall at 3 am". Balboa is currently in Harris County jail in Texas after being charged with evidence tampering.

Balboa was jailed after it was found that she was trying to move the 6-year-old's body to another state and she stayed in a motel with the missing child's body. Prosecutors stated that she was "on her way to Louisiana" with the child's body when she was found and arrested.

Who is Tiffany Schultz?

Tiffany Schultz, the neighbor, made shocking claims saying that she heard strange noises from the adjacent apartment two days after Samuel was allegedly murdered. She said, "The second day we were here, it was probably about 3 or 4 o'clock in the morning, we heard loud scratching noises, really, really loud," The Sun reported. She added, "It lasted for a good ten or fifteen minutes, I was like, 'Baby, I'm scared.' He (her fiance) was like, 'It's okay'." Schultz added, "My fiance saw them one time (Balboa and Rivera), but they never spoke." 

Schultz added, "I've heard loud scratching from animals before and it wasn't that, I don't believe they had animals. We didn't hear any other noises, it was strange." Schultz said, "My fiance also saw a truck outside and is convinced he saw a bin in the back, which Samuel could have been in, it's creepy." Speaking of the heinous crime, she noted, "I think she deserves to go to jail for a long time and think about what she did."

The 25-year-old also said that they were aware of the little child missing as there were search parties around. She said, "We saw police and fourwheelers, camera people out here, and they all started to come in here (in the community), right in front of our door." She continued, "We looked it up and realized it was a young boy missing, then she (Balboa) was arrested. It's all sad." The jarring crime has made the neighbors nervous, she admitted, "It makes me really nervous thinking someone like that was living next door, you just never know."

Earlier, it was reported that Samuel died on May 10, more than two weeks before he was reported missing. The child had reportedly been under Balboa's care since April 30 and he hadn't been seen by anybody except family after that. Balboa initially claimed that she had handed Samuel over to his biological mother and a man "dressed" as a police officer. But investigators were unable to verify Balboa's claims and said she was lying. As per the charging documents, Balboa's roommate, Benjamin Rivera, earlier informed the police that 29-year-old contacted him on May 10 and told him that Olson was dead. He further added that he rushed home only to discover an unresponsive Olson laying on the bed.

Houston Police on June 3 tweeted, "Theresa Raye Balboa, 29, is charged with tampering with evidence in the 180th State District Court. This is a November 2020 booking photo of Balboa. Her current photo is not yet available."
