LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: Rapper Busta Rhymes, whose real name is Trevor Smith Jr, was reportedly groped by a woman, identified as Nikita Mathis while walking through the Las Vegas Convention Center during the MAGIC Fashion Trade Show. The woman was seen touching the 50-year-old Grammy-nominated musician’s butt without his permission as he walked with his entourage. Following this, Busta turned around, visibly upset, and tossed a drink in the woman’s direction.

The video footage which was shared on Tuesday, February 14, soon went viral with people sharing it all over social media while commenting on the matter. DJ Kameron Bennett on Twitter wrote, “Busta was not feeling that had to throw the drink on her.. I don’t blame him." One individual said, "So weird that people think it’s appropriate to assault folks and in public. Wow." Recently, Kanye West had found himself in trouble when he was reportedly the named subject in a police battery investigation. The rapper was accused of allegedly "throwing a woman's phone" away at his daughter, North's basketball game on Friday, January 27.

Who is Nikita Mathis?

Nikita Mathis is the owner of Platinum Plus Fashions Boutique. After the video went viral, Mathis responded regarding the incident and insisted that she didn’t intend to touch Busta inappropriately. She said, “I didn’t mean to touch his behind honestly I was just happy to meet him and wanted a pic. Been a long time fan I admit I shouldn’t have touch him at all but he’s BUSTA I felt like I could possibly get a pic,” as per XXL.

'Men get uncomfortable just like we do'

People continued to show anger with one saying, "Bc why would she do that. I don’t know why men or women feel so comfortable jumping into other peoples spaces & boundaries and touching people without consent. she lucky that’s all he did. Everybody not touchy-feely." Another tweeted, "A lot of women feel like they have free range to grope and touch people simply because they’re women. Along with the fact that society has created this narrative that any sexual attention towards a man is welcomed and it’s not. Men get uncomfortable just like we do!" Another said, "I'm glad, people need to learn not to touch people if they don't invite you to do so." On the other hand, a user pointed out, "If it was the other way around. It would be a whole cancel committee in these comments."
