Who is Mohammed Zakaria Salah Rakchi?
On the day of the tragedy Salah Rakchi had just dropped off his 7-year-old daughter at school and was running errands for his family when he was struck at Bay Ridge by accused driver Sor, his wife Tchenar said. Salah Rakchi who works as a delivery bike driver was placed in a medically induced coma after suffering “massive head trauma.” The 36-year-old has a subdural hematoma, rib fractures, and leg fractures and is in critical condition, his distraught family said, according to New York Post.
Tchenar recalled the tragic day and said she last spoke to her husband shortly before the accident. “I don’t have words to describe my feelings now,” emotional Tchenar said. “My husband is a really good person, a good father, a lovely husband. I’m so sorry for what’s happened to him; I don’t know what to say about that.”
'Independent investigation!'
Heartbroken Tchenar has retained two lawyers to conduct an independent investigation on the suspect and the events leading to the high-speed chase and arrest. “One of the things that we’re going to be looking at in terms of how this tragedy occurred is the conduct of the NYPD, and we’re going to be looking at vehicle pursuit policies to see whether or not what they did was in accordance with their actual policies,” attorney Derek Sells said.
