'The View' host Meghan McCain, 36, has returned to the highly watched show after having her first child, daughter Liberty, with her husband Ben Domenech. The new mother is now calling on conservatives to support mandatory paid maternity leave after she had her first child.

According to reports, the host took three months off 'The View' in order to look after her newborn and now, after having experienced motherhood, claims to have a better formed opinion on the matter of maternity leave. Returning to 'The View' on Monday, January 4, McCain revealed that she had suffered from postnatal preeclampsia after giving birth to Liberty and was "physically unable" to return to her job in the six weeks she had planned to. "I was in the hospital for a week after on a magnesium drip, and it really, really kicked my butt. I had to have my husband and my mother-in-law help me do everything, from the shower to eat. It was deeply humbling," she added. Unfortunately for her, the Internet wasn't too happy with her comments, and Twitter roared in disapproval of her message. Many were appalled at the fact that the host was now advocating maternity leave only after she'd had her first child.

"Meghan McCain returned to The View today after time off with her new baby. Surprise! She now supports maternity leave. Now if we could have her become poor or Black maybe she wouldn't be a horrible person who is only tv because she had a famous father," wrote one user.  Another social media user added, "Republicans NEVER realize anything until it affects them personally. Shame on Meghan McCain’s lack of empathy and her ignorance, but that’s all wrapped up in her white privilege bubble. Grow tf up and get your head out of your ass!!"

You can watch the conversation on 'The View' below.

In her message, McCain spoke of how paid maternity leave is a "privilege" and even further, questioned why other women in America are not privy to that "luxury." Brining in the politics of it, she added "And then I started getting more and more angry that conservatives in particular, given that we are the party of family values and that everything about our ideology sort of stems from the nucleus of the family, that we are leaving women in this country without the capacity and ability, unless you have an employer that allows you to take care of your child, to heal physically, which is something that needs to happen." Some even took a dig at the hosts' husband, with another added, "I was more stunned by the question of who had a child with Meghan McCain...answer is a man who’s found to have plagiarized and taken bribes at not one but two different news media outlets"

Who is Meghan McCain's husband, Ben Domenech?

Ben Domenech, 39, is the co-founder and publisher of The Federalist, which ironically has an article published with the title, 'How Paid Family Leave Restricts Parents’ Choices'. Domenech attended the College of William & Mary between 1999 and 2002, and now the conservative wears multiple hats including that of a blogger, writer of 'the Transom', host of the 'The Federalist Radio Hour', and the co-founder of the RedState group blog.

According to reports, Domenech's credibility has been a bit tarnished in the past as he resigned three days after being hired in 2006 as a blogger at The Washington Post at the age of 24, due to plagiarism of works that were originally published in The New Yorker, The Washington Post, the National Review, among other publications.

He was also involved in quite a scandal related to journalism in 2013, that ended up with his work being removed from The Washington Examiner and The Huffington Post after news broke that he had "received $36,000 from Joshua Trevino, a conservative pundit, and lobbyist," according to reports. Reports also further stated that Domenech was given the cash to write "favorable opinion pieces about the government of Malaysia without disclosing the relationship."

Most recently, in May 2019, after his wife spoke about her accusation that Rep. Ilhan Omar was anti-Semitic on 'Late Night with Seth Meyers', Domenech took to Twitter to post tweets saying that Meyers was an "untalented piece of shit" who "only has his job because he regularly gargled Lorne Michaels’ balls." After being dragged on the social media channel, the conservative not only later deleted the "rage" tweets but apologized as well.

As for Domenech's relationship with McCain, he was engaged to the daughter of the late US Senator John McCain in July 2017 and the couple married in November 2017 in Sedona, Arizona at the family's ranch with late Sen McCain present at the festivities. The news that the couple was expecting a child first became public after 'The View' posted it on Twitter in September.

It seems as though the couple is now getting continuous hate from the Internet, with their past not helping the present comments. One user wrote, "Meghan McCain needs to stop living off the memory of her dad.Stay home with her new baby and gargling disgusting husband. No one needs to hear YOUR view on anything. You did nothing except make excuses for TRump for 4 years until mommy switched to Biden. Meghan = 0 brain cells." Another added, "Her party has done more damage to policies that affect pregnant women, new parents and children than anything she can imagine. Meghan McCain and her husband are rich & selfish. She's not "woke" - she's working on her public image"
