WEST BLOOMFIELD, MICHIGAN: Max Sebrechts, the former vice president of Miss USA, has been making headlines in 2022. He mired himself in controversies after it was reportedly discovered that Sebrechts allegedly sexually harassed Miss USA contestants. Now, for the first time, 'Big Brother' Season 24 winner Taylor Hale has come forward and asserted those allegations. The reality star claimed that Sebrechts sexually harassed her in an interview with Reality Steve.
Sebrechts resigned earlier this year from the post of Miss USA VP after rumors of him sexually harassing models started doing rounds on the internet. When he stepped down from the post, it was considered a "structural change" in the format. However, later it was reported that the Sebrechts' resignation from the position was actually a forced removal. Who is Max Sebrechts?
Max Sebrechts is a Belgian model and an actor with Irish and British accents. Sebrechts is a former trade ambassador of the famous Belgian chocolate industry. He came to the limelight in 2010 when he started dating Crystle Stewart, Miss Texan USA 2008, and Miss USA 2008. They got engaged in 2013 and later married in 2014. In 2020, Crystle became the national director of Miss USA, while Sebrechts became the vice president.
Taylor Hale opens up about alleged sexual harassment by Max Sebrechts
For the first time, the former Miss Michigan USA talked on record about how Sebrechts sexually harassed her. She claimed during the Reality Steve podcast, "He (Sebrechts) invites me to the presidential suite. I decline." She later explained how Sebrechts ran with her in the hotel lobby while helping her out with her "big and heavy" dress. He offered Hale help and she accepted it.
She explained in the podcast that there was a protocol that whenever you were escorted to your room by any person, he/she "would stop at the elevator bank and watch you go down the hallway to your room." Hale explained that instead of stopping by the elevator Sebrechts walked all the way to her room. Hale claimed, "None of this felt really threatening, but it was definitely uncomfortable".
Hale further alleged that Sebrechts stood there and gave her intimate hugs. She explained, "They were very intimate, pretty sexual." He then whispered in Hale's ear and praised her for how gorgeous she was looking. While doing so, Sebrechts kissed the "corner of her mouth" and played with Hale's cheek. She explained the moment, "I’m just frozen." Sebrechts did the same thing twice. After realizing what was happening with her was not appropriate, Hale claimed that "finally I get him to leave the room."
This is not the first time that someone has alleged sexual harassment by Sebrechts. Several anonymous women have also come forward with similar allegations. Hale said in the podcast about Sebrechts's behavior, "It all felt too practiced and comfortable."
