As DesChamps did not wear any ropes or harnesses to make his climb, the fire brigade set up inflatable safety cushions on the street to prepare for the worst. Who is Maison DesChamps?
Maison DesChamps, 22, is an anti-abortion protester who has been in action since the Supreme Court judgment overturned Roe v Wade earlier this year. He has since been free climbing skyscrapers to raise money and awareness for his cause. DesChamps has made a name for himself by climbing the 50-story Devon Tower in downtown Oklahoma City in June and the 60-story Salesforce Tower in San Francisco. He also climbed the New York Times building a day after he was released by the San Francisco Police. He currently lives in Las Vegas, Nevada and is a finance major at UNLV.
This is not the first time that DesChamps has performed such a risky stunt. Accoridng to his website, he "climbed the 600ft Aria Hotel to protest Nevada's Covid-19 Mandates" in August 2021. He's a rock climbing enthusiast. In a video shared by DesChamps on Instagram, he explains that there is a woman he wants to raise money so she can get her abortion. He wrote, "We need to help her pay her rent and help her fix her car so she can get to work and save her baby from abortion. Sometimes it's that easy that all they need is a little bit of financial support and they are willing to choose life."
