Who is Jerry Lyons? PI hid 'America's Most Hated Woman' Casey Anthony for weeks after not-guilty verdict
ORLANDO, FLORIDA: Casey Anthony was once accused of killing her two-year-old daughter Caley. After the jury deliberation went on for 10 hours and 40 minutes before reaching a verdict, Casey was found not guilty of first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse, and aggravated manslaughter of a child. After countless stories, media coverage, and the currently-streaming docuseries 'Where the Truth Lies', none could shed light on her whereabouts in the weeks after the not-guilty verdict in 2011.
The person behind the disappearance of 'America's Most Hated Woman' has spoken up, explaining he was ordered to keep the then 25-year-old woman out of the public's eye. A retired NYPD detective, Jerry Lyons, has told The Daily Beast that he was under orders to drive the client somewhere safe to keep her out of public view. After her arrest, Casey faced the electric chair but was acquitted after six weeks of trial. When she walked free from jail after spending three years in solitary confinement, the media and the public erupted and she was a target of hate. Casey was taken to a seaside property that was more or less like a safe house. However, she was once spotted walking with one of the lawyers along the shore.

Lyons recalls getting immediate instructions from the defense team. "'You gotta get her out of here'. They’re afraid that somebody’s gonna come out there," recalled Lyons. "We left in such a hurry, I left my suitcase there. I left with [just] the clothes on my back. We started to drive north. I don’t want people to catch me there," said Lyons who explained they made a break for it in Lyon's white Ford Taurus. He recalled, "You’re trying to speed, but not speed. The last thing you need is to get pulled over," hinting at how keeping Casey away from anyone's attention was the primary target.
Who is Jerry Lyons?
Lyons is a former NYPD detective and is the President/Owner of Jeremiah Lyons Investigations. Surprisingly, Casey Anthony was the first case he took as a private investigator. Lyons got the job after he handed his resume to lead attorney Jose Baez at a capital punishment conference. According to his LinkedIn profile, he has more than 40 years of experience in criminal investigations - first for the prosecution and then for the defense. His second case as of Aaron Hernandez's double murder case in Boston, Massachusetts, and the third one is the Gary Giordano case in Aruba who was jailed after his girlfriend went missing.
After fleeing from Florida, the duo made their way across Virginia, Baltimore, Manhattan, and The Bronx, Lyons was instructed by the defense team to immediately bring Casey back to Florida as she was still on probation for lying to the police. Upon her return, she was once again handed over to a high-profile investigator and her following two weeks are again a mystery. Casey Anthony can be seen in the now-streaming documentary.
