OTARI, JAPAN: On November 18, 2022, Kyle Smaine married Jenna Dramise, 13 years after they first met while hitchhiking. Nobody had anticipated that the couple's marriage would only last two months. But before skier Smaine was killed by an avalanche on Japan's Honshu Island's Mount Hakuba Norikura on Sunday, January 29, the pair had enjoyed some of their most memorable days together.

Kyle Smaine, a former halfpipe world champion, was among the two skiers killed by an avalanche. The incident took place in Otari village in Central Japan outside the patrolled area of the ski resort when an avalanche triggered by another skier killed five skiers, including Smaine. He was thrown 50 meters away due to the airblast triggered by the avalanche.

When did Jenna Dramise and Kyle Smaines get married?

Kyle's snowboarder wife Jenna Dramise took to Instagram and shared a slide show of them together along with a long post where she detailed about their relationship. "Dear husband and my whole world," she began in the post. Dramise continued that they got married on November 18, 2022, "which not many people knew about."

"I’m so incredibly thankful that I got to marry you and have you in my life. You loved skiing more than anyone I’ve ever met. I picked you up hitchhiking in New Zealand in 2010 and who would have thought we would be married 13 years later,” she wrote further, calling them “the best damn years of my life.”

'Could never blame you for doing what you loved'

Jenna does not want to blame her husband as he was doing what he loved, more so she has a secret to tell too, "I know you had the best runs in your life out there in Japan and could never blame you for doing what you loved," she further wrote. "I do wish I could tell you that one secret I always had, that I love you. It never really was a secret because I said it at least 10 times a day to you. I can’t wait to see you again. Tonight I hope to ride some pow or bikes with you in my dreams. Love your Wife," she concluded.
