Who is Dr Joan Donavan? Harvard splits ways with research director who supported Hunter Biden
CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS: The Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University announced on Thursday, February 2, that it would end its long-running 'misinformation' research project. The program's director, Dr Joan Donovan, who expressed notable skepticism regarding the Hunter Biden laptop story, is leaving the organization. Donavan describes herself as an expert on the risks associated with false information spreading on social media, as per reports.
Donavan used her position to challenge media accounts of the Hunter's laptop tale, in which the president's son's lost laptop was discovered in a Delaware repair facility. The laptop was full of damaging emails and numerous illicit photos from his time working for the Ukrainian energy company Burisma. Ahead of the 2020 presidential election, the story was noticeably repressed by many significant media organizations. However, let's know about Donavan, the person who refuted Hunter's laptop story.

Who is Dr Joan Donovan?
Donovan was the Technology and Social Change (TaSC) research project's director at the Shorenstein Center on Media Politics and Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School. TaSC looks into how media bias is employed to pervert democracy, sway public opinion, and upend society, according to Harvard.
Prior to joining the Harvard Kennedy School, Donovan served as the research lead for Data & Society's Media Manipulation Initiative. She was in-charge of a sizable team of researchers looking into attempts to influence sociotechnical systems in order to advance political goals.
The University of California, San Diego, awarded her a PhD in sociology and science studies. She conducted research on how white supremacists use technology, social movements, and DNA ancestry tests while she was a postdoctoral fellow at the UCLA Institute for Society and Genetics, according to Jonadovan.org.
Hunter Biden's laptop story
Hunter's laptop, which contained incriminating images of him being drug-addicted with prostitutes, has been a source of scandal for the Joe Biden administration ever since it was first published on the day of the 2020 election, as reported by Intelligencer. The criminal businessman's background in Ukraine was extensively discussed in the laptop, which raised concerns about his father's dubious international dealings. Hunter retaliated in December by hiring political veteran Abbe Lowell, who had previously worked with Jared Kushner, as per reports.
Mac Isaac was charged with unauthorized access to the laptop by Lowell. On January 27, Isaac filed a defamation lawsuit against the defendant, seeking $75,000 in damages. Then, on February 1, Lowell sent a letter to the Delaware Attorney General and the Department of Justice requesting that Mac Isaac and the others be put on trial, as reported by NewsTimesuk.
