Who is Dr. David A. Kulber? Doc who worked on Johnny Depp explains why Amber Heard's 'closet' story doesn't work
On Tuesday, May 24, Dr David A. Kulber, a hand surgeon who restored Jonny Depp's finger after he lost the tip during a fight with Amber Heard in Australia in 2015, testified via live video. According to Depp, Heard allegedly hurled a smashed vodka bottle him. The allegations were later refuted by Heard.
After his initial operation, Depp had a pin in his finger and a soft cast on two of his fingers, according to Kubler. He explained, "He had a fracture of his finger with soft tissue loss so we reconstructed his finger.” He claimed that he treated Johnny Depp for several months since the damage was significant and required multiple visits to clean out the tissue and infection.

A lawyer representing Depp asked Kulber if the actor had been able to grip someone while wearing the cast. He said that he could try, but that he was unlikely to succeed. It is likely that he was asked this question because Amber's legal team was trying to make it look as though Johnny struck or destroyed Amber's items while his hand was in a cast. Kulber operated on Depp's wounded hand around March 20, 2015, according to his testimony. He claimed, "He couldn't move his third and fourth fingers ... It's a more bulkier splint right after the surgery. So ... it gets in the way ... He could attempt to grab someone. But I don't know how successful he would be."
After his testimony, Amber Heard's lawyer Ben Rottenborn questioned the surgeon on whether the actor's cast could have stopped him from harming the actress' wardrobe. Kulber responded, "He had his other hand available." Kulber also hinted during his statement that he had not noticed any damage to Depp's cast at the time.
Previously, Amber Heard submitted photos of the damage to her $3 million penthouse closet, which she claims was inflicted by her ex-husband Johnny Depp. The Pirates of the Caribbean star is said to have gone into a frenzy and demolished the closet. Broken garment racks and luxury items are spread throughout a room, along with shoes and handbags that litter the floor, according to photos provided to the court.
Kulber’s testimony comes after, Dr Richard Moore testified on Monday, May 23, that Depp could not have lost the tip of his finger in the manner he claimed during a domestic quarrel. Meanwhile, Depp's serious injury to his middle finger, which occurred during a March 2015 dispute in Australia between Depp and Heard during their brief marriage, is one of several main issues of contention in the legal action.

Depp claimed he was hurt when Heard hurled a smashed vodka bottle at him during the trial. Heard has claimed that she was not there at the time of the injury, but that it happened on a night when an agitated and drunken Depp sexually attacked her with a liquor bottle. Dr Moore testified that Depp's account was unlikely, in part because his fingernail was still intact. Moore, who did not treat Depp, noted that the fingernail was visible and would have been injured because Depp's hand was palm-down.
Depp is currently suing Heard for defamation over an op-ed she published in the Washington Post in 2018 in which she claimed she was a victim of sexual violence. Although she didn't mention Depp by name in the essay, Depp’s legal team claimed the article led to the image and career progression loss for the actor. Depp is suing for $50 million in damages, whereas Heard has countersued the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' actor for $100 million.
