Who is Dominic Giacoppa? Gaffe-ridden Biden hurls anti-Irish slur, forgets father-in-law
NEW CASTLE, DELAWARE: During a recent US veterans town hall address on Friday, December 16, President Joe Biden made ethnicity-related comments claiming that despite him being Irish, "he’s not stupid" and insisted he’s got "a little Italian" in him. He said, “I may be Irish, but I'm not stupid. I married Dominic Giacoppa’s daughter so, you know, I got a little Italian in me now." Following this, people were quick to take a dig at him but many pointed out how he mistook his father-in-law, Donald C Jacobs, who was a Navy Signalman in World War II, with his wife Jill Biden's grandfather.
A clip of the statement went viral on Twitter with one saying, "As a descendant of actual Irish immigrants, I find this remark to be utterly repugnant." Another said, "I'm half Italian and Half Irish and have listened to Irish and Italian jokes my whole life and could care less..if its funny its funny...this wasnt...but still dont care. That said, Just imagine if Trump had used that line."

Many continued to bash him with an individual writing, "What a strange and derogatory thing to say, "He is a universal embarrassment." One more commented, "What an offensive thing to say!" While many weighed in, suggesting the president was repeating an anti-Irish statement that he first said during his St Patrick's Day speech in March 2022, others said he got his wife’s genealogy wrong. Giacoppa is Jill Biden's grandfather. Pointing this out, Steve Guest, special advisor for communications for Sen Ted Cruz, replied, "FACT CHECK: Giacoppa was actually Jill Biden's grandfather, not her father."

Who is Dominic Giacoppa?
