BELGRADE, SERBIA: Ana Walshe's mother reportedly said that her daughter "begged her to come and visit her around the holidays," a week before she went missing on January 1. Milanka Ljubicic, who lives in Belgrade, Serbia, reportedly said that her 39-year-old daughter's desperate request led her to believe there were "some problems."

Speaking to Fox News Digital on Monday, January 9, Ljubicic said, "She just said, 'Please, mama. Come tomorrow.' Which means, that clearly, there must have been some problems."

Ljubicic said that Walshe texted her on December 25, 2022, asking her to come to Washington the next day. "She texted in the evening, urging me to come the next day to Washington," she said.

Ljubicic then reportedly responded, "I can’t get myself together in one day. I am 69 years old, I have to get my medications and a thousand other things." She suggested that she would come the following day. “And now I can’t forgive myself for not just letting things fall where they may, and just go, and whatever happens to me, happens,” the worried mother said.

When asked if Walshe gave her any reason for the request, Ljubicic responded with a "no." She suggested that she could come on January 5 or 6, to which Walshe replied, "You don’t’ have to come in January. Brian and I are making plans for February," Ljubicic recalled.

Ljubicic said that her daughter called her twice on December 31, 2022, around midnight and at 1.00am, but she missed both. "She called her elder sister who was also asleep. Then she tried to call her maid-of-honor who didn’t hear the phone because of the loud music. And now, I regret not getting the phone, because she’s disappeared," she said.

Walshe's husband, Brian, who was previously convicted for art fraud, was arrested for allegedly misleading the investigators who were probing the mother-of-three's disappearance. Ljubicic, however, said that she never noticed "anything bad" about her son-in-law.

According to CNN, Brian's internet search history following Walshe's disappearance showed, "How to dispose of a 115-pound woman’s body." The outlet cited two law enforcement sources who said that he also looked up how to dismember a body.

"I cannot believe that he’d ever have done anything to her. I just have just one wish, and that is that my daughter is alive," Ljubicic said.
