BURBANK, CALIFORNIA: Disney is being criticized for a new animated series in which Black children rap about reparations and say that "slaves built this country." 'The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder' is being slammed for the cartoon in which the characters apparently find out that slaves built their town and then offer a presentation at their school. A White character stands on a stage with a poster that reads, "still not atoned."

The predominantly Black characters are leading a petition to remove the statue of Abraham Lincoln, claiming he did not want to abolish slavery. The Daily Mail reports that Disney claims the show "follows the adventures and misadventures of newly 14-year-old Penny Proud and her Proud Family as they navigate modern life with hilarity and heart."

What does the cartoon show?

In the episode, Penny finds out the meaning of 'Juneteenth' and learns that the town was founded by a slave owner. Part of the rap in the show says, "And we, the descendants of slaves in America, have earned reparations continue."

"And continue to earn reparations every moment we spend submerged in the systemic prejudice, racism, and white supremacy that America was founded with and still has not atoned for," it adds. The school applauds as the scene ends, after which a protest against Abraham Lincoln is planned.

A different scene shows cops showing up in riot gears as the children protested peacefully. "Officers, please put these little kids in cuffs, y'all. Audience, no photos, please," a basketball-spinning Black man tells the group. This is followed by a standoff between the cops and the children.

'Nothing short of woke propoganda'

The cartoon has been slammed on social media as 'woke' with many users calling for Disney to be boycotted. "This is a scene from The Proud Family, a kids show on Disney+. Why are they showing this woke, racist BLM crap propaganda to our kids?" one user wrote on Twitter. Another said, "Took our grandkids for many years. Also took them to movies. No more!!we now do more camping". "This is a scene from Disney’s The Proud Family, a kids show. This is nothing short of woke propoganda," a user wrote.

"I just thought it was like a shot at the end of the episode of something. Only just now clicked it and watched, and it's so much worse than I could've imagined," one user wrote, and another said, "If Disney wasn’t fully “woke” before, they certainly are now with this nonsense. What a precipitous fall they’ve taken as an American institution." "This is a scene from 'The Proud Family' a kids show on Disney+ They're beaming woke BLM propaganda straight into your living rooms," one user said.
