Which team will Serenity Arce choose? 'The Voice' Season 25 contestant's 'amazing' performance sparks feud among coaches
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'The Voice' Season 25 contestant Serenity Arce left the coaches, including Reba McEntire, Chance the Rapper, John Legend, Dan Smyers, and Shay Mooney, in awe with her impressive performance on the NBC show.
She delivered a soulful performance of Sam Fischer's song 'This City.' Serenity surprisingly received four-chair turns with John and Chance commenting their best to invite the contestant to their team. 'The Voice' coaches also gave a standing ovation to Serenity during the blind audition.
In the early release preview of Serenity's audition, Chance tried his best to convince Serenity to choose Team Chance and complimented, "That was amazing. That was a real dedication to giving a great performance."
He added, "You have this amazing use of your head voice and your high register, but you also have this crazy smooth transition to your chest." Chance expressed his excitement to witness Serenity's range of songs.
He then reflected on his team and said, "The people that I work with on my team, I try to make it as much about the songs that they want to perform, what they want to show to the world."
The NBC show coach further claimed, "You got four chairs turned. Whoever you go with, I think you’re going to win, but if you get down with Team Chance, you'll get to show who you are." Reba also tried to pitch in and complimented Serenity's 'wonderful' voice.
She also shared, "I'm one of the country acts here..." adding, "Being a country act, I've been in the business a long, long time and I feel I could steer you in a way to enhance the qualities you already have, and I would be thrilled to pieces to have you on Team Reba."
John also wanted the 16-year-old aspiring singer on his team and noted, "Your voice is so powerful and crisp and sounds like it could be on the radio immediately because it has that quality to cut through the music."
He then called Serenity's voice 'cool', 'distinct', and unique, adding, "I would love to be your coach." However, Chance tried to let Serenity recall her previous 'The Voice' appearance which no coaches, including John, turned their chairs.
Chance said, "John is covering up for the fact that he didn’t turn around for you two years ago. If I'd have been here, I'd have turned."
John Legend uses his 'block' for Serenity Arce
'The Voice' Season 25 coach John Legend, eager to assemble the strongest team, strategically used his 'block' to prevent Country duo Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney from potentially stealing Serenity Arce.
John Legend promptly recognized Serenity's exceptional voice and wasted no time using his 'block' on Dan + Shay, ensuring he had a better chance of securing Serenity for his team.
Dan + Shay displayed visible disappointment as they too aimed to gather the best talent for their team. After Serenity's audition, Dan expressed, "I felt that performance deep down in my soul. It was very special. Whoever blocked us..." Shay joined the conversation, looking at John, and remarked, "We know who it was."
He added, "It's rude and it’s mean, but I'll take it as a compliment." John used Shay's comment as an advantage to convince Serenity and noted, "Take it as a compliment, Serenity. You made me block someone for you."
