'RHOSLC' star Monica Garcia calls 911 after ex Mike Fowler slaps her in the face as their children watched
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH: 'The Real Housewives Of Salt Lake City' Season 4 star Monica Garcia's ex-husband Mike Fowler moved to a different state after the reality star finalized her divorce.
Monica and Mike's divorce came was the reality star's ex-husband slapped her in March 2021. According to a police report obtained by The Sun, Monica called the police after her husband slapped her while their children were at home.
Three of their four children, Bri, West and Kendall were home at the time. Monica's daughters West and Kendall were sleeping during the incident while Bre was awake and heard the assault and the argument.
Monica was hiding in her room when the cops showed up and "they could hear the female yelling for him to get away from her," according to the outlet. The couple allegedly went for dinner with their friends and got into an argument about 'some of the people that she had been associating with'.
However, Monica and Mike's argument turned into a heated fight when they returned home. After Mike slapped Monica, she immediately dialled 911 but her husband begged her to hang up.
Monica Garcia's ex Mike Fowler was arrested for domestic violence
Monica claimed that 'she was afraid of Michael and what he would do if she disobeyed him', according to the report obtained by the outlet. However, after Monica's claims, Mike was arrested and sent to a county jail for DVAS (domestic violence assault).
Mike was also charged with DVPC (domestic violence in presence of child) and ELDV (interruption of a communication device). Mike pleaded guilty to assault in the court was sentenced to 12 months probation and had to pay fines and fees totaling $1,070.
According to the reports, Mike was also ordered to attend parenting class, counseling sessions and 16 weeks of domestic violence anger management classes. However, Mike's DVPC and ELDV charges were dismissed by the Utah court on March 15, 2021.
Monica Garcia files for divorce from Mike Fowler in 2023
Monica Garcia and Mike Fowler were married for around eight years after the court dismissed her divorce plea for the first time in 2013. However, two years after the assault in 2021, Monica again filed for divorce on June 12, 2023.
Although there were rumours that Monica and Mike got divorced because of the reality star's 18-month affair with her ex-brother-in-law Jared Taylor. But the reality star later cleared up the air and revealed that she filed for divorce because of domestic violence.
Monica finalized her divorce with Mike on October 24, 2023, and was awarded sole legal and sole physical custody of her four daughters. Meanwhile, Mike was ordered to pay Monica $2,636 per month in child support and $4,000 per month in alimony.
