SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH: 'The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City' Season 4 newbie Monica Garcia recently revealed that she was excommunicated from the church after she slept with her brother-in-law for 18 months. However, Monica didn't share further details about her brother-in-law.

In the latest drama-filled episode of 'RHOSLC' Season 4, Monica revealed some shocking details about her personal life. The reality star, who went shopping with Heather Gay, disclosed that she was raised in the church and is an ex-Mormon.

Monica revealed, "I was married in the temple and then I was excommunicated for f******g my brother in law for 18 months." When Heather asked whether the brother-in-law was her husband's brother, Monica elaborated, "So my husband's sister.. her husband."

Feeling guilty, Monica told the bishop that she had been sleeping with her brother-in-law. When Heather asked if they excommunicated her brother-in-law, Monica admitted he wasn't and she had to suffer the embarrassment alone.

She emotionally admitted, "I genuinely and truly, probably, like one of the worst experiences of my life because I really did feel so bad and I thought coming out with it, and I was just shunned from everyone and everywhere and literally unwelcome everywhere and I genuinely felt like I was stagged."

Why Heather Gay embraces being a 'Bad Mormon'

Heather Gay is a self-proclaimed 'bad Mormon' and also released a book with a similar title. However, in the latest episode, Heather was left stunned by Monica Garcia's revelation as the latter admitted she was also a 'bad Mormon'.

Heather left Mormonism and was excommunicated from the church soon after she got a divorce from her husband. In an interview with The Salt Lake Tribune, Heather revealed, "I thought if I’m going to leave the Mormon Church, this is the way to do it."

The reality star added, "I was kind of sick of living in the shadows. I don’t want to say double life, but I was transitioning out of the faith very slowly, like a slow bleed."

She elaborated, "I chose to walk away. Although I no longer identify as a Mormon, I still have a deep love and admiration for all of my Mormon friends and family."
