LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Survival games show us life off-land without any modern devices and the shows create a curiosity as to how long a human can survive without all the basic equipment and technologies that we use now. Some of the survival shows include the long-running CBS' 'Survivor' (2000-) and Discovery Channel's 'Man vs. Wild' (2006-2011) with host Bear Grylls. But, History Channel's 'Alone' (2015-) is one of the survival gaming shows that stands out as it is really extreme to compete and survive. The contestants are to survive extreme conditions with few tools with them at their disposal.

Season 9 of 'Alone' premiered on May 26, 2022, and concluded on August 4, 2022. The season had a total of 11 episodes and the contestants were dropped in the river location in Labrador, Canada. Season 9 of 'Alone' has a total of 10 contestants including Juan Pablo Quiñonez, Karie Lee Knoke, Teimojin Tan, Adam Riley, Jessie Krebs, Tom Garstang, Terry Burns, Benji Hill, Igor Limansky and Jacques Turcotte. Juan Pablo Quiñonez emerged as the winner of 'Alone' season 9, having survived for 78 days.

Who is Juan Pablo Quinonez?

Juan Pablo Quinonez is a 30-year-old survivalist from Pinawa, Manitoba in Canada. Juan Pablo is an outdoor professional, and wilderness first responder. Juan Pablo grew up in Mexico and his love for wilderness comes from a very young age. He loved to forest to trap rattlesnakes, scorpions and lizards. He holds a BA in Applied Ecotourism and Outdoor Leadership. He is a professional in outdoor recreation and survival with over 10 years experience under his belt. Some of his notable adventures include backpacking the entire Pacific Crest Trail, a total of 2,650 miles in 99 days; paddling over 1500 miles during numerous whitewater and flatwater trips. During his time in 'Alone', Juan Pablo has managed to survive with the tools - a Ferro rod, Paracord, 2-quart pot, Ax, Fishing line and hooks, Saw, Bow and arrows, Sleeping bag, Trapping wire and Multitool. Juan Pablo won $500,000.



 

Where is Juan Pablo Quinonez?

After winning Season 9 of 'Alone', Juan Pablo Quiñonez worked for the next couple of months working on his book titled, 'Thrive: Long-Term Wilderness Survival Guide', which he started back in 2020. Juan published his book on July 2022. He shared the celebration of his book release on Instagram with his followers. Passionate about adventure and living off the land, Juan Pablo always looking for an opportunity to push his limits to the maximum. Juan Pablo strongly believes that strengthening one's skills, like our ancestors of hunter-gatherers and having a genuine connection to the land is the key to resilience, particularly in these times of disruption and decline. Previously, Juan Pablo said that if he wins 'Alone', he would use the prize money for the next stage of his life. Juan Pablo noted that he would find land and start a homestead with my partner, Jennifer. Juan Pablo and Jennifer went on a refreshing canoe trip after the release of his book. Juan Pablo is now looking forward to creating a cooperative community with other people.
