LA HABRA, CALIFORNIA: Larry Walker, a carjacking victim from La Habra, California, died on Thursday, October 13, after being dragged by a homicide suspect driving his stolen vehicle in a police chase. According to a news release from the Los Angeles Times, Walker, 63, was dragged along the vehicle for two miles before being found dead at the scene, according to The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office.

The victim’s daughter, Jamien Walker, told NBC Los Angeles, “What happened to my father out here has torn my family apart.” Walker spent more than 40 years in California after moving there from Georgia, according to family members. They further informed that the 63-year-old dealt with people who had special needs in group homes and day programs. “Never in a million years did I think something like this would happen to him,” Ed Walker, the victim’s son remarked.

Le Habra Mayor Jose Medrano posted a photo of Walker on his official Facebook page, writing, "Please keep the Walker family and all victims of crime in your prayers." Meanwhile, police identified the suspect as Joshua Reneau, 31, and said he had been traveling for about three miles before he crashed his car into five police cruisers. Three individuals were shot in two separate armed robberies that happened on July 29 within hours of one another. Reneau was being tracked by the LAPD and the FBI Fugitive Taskforce for another murder arrest warrant when the tragic chase started, according to authorities.

According to the cops, Reneau was seen getting into the backseat of a vehicle and leaving the house. The car then crashed into another vehicle and became inoperative as a marked LAPD vehicle continued to pursue it. The LAPD claimed that Reneau then got out of the sedan and stole Walker's car.

According to the LAPD statement, Reneau locked himself inside the car for two hours before giving himself up to the SWAT team. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he is being held in custody on suspicion of first-degree murder.

LAPD said in a statement, "The murder suspect got out of the passenger side and carjacked another vehicle. The murder suspect drove away from Florence Avenue and Haas Avenue, dragging the carjacking victim."

Two more people were detained early on Thursday by LAPD police and FBI agents on suspicion of taking part in the July robberies and shootings. Derek Hall, 28, of West Covina, and Miracole Brown, 20, of South Los Angeles were detained by Operations Valley Bureau Homicide Detectives on suspicion of robbery and murder, and $2 million bail was set.
