AUSTIN, TEXAS: At UFC 292, Joe Rogan was concerned that Chris Weidman might break his leg once more. At UFC 261, in April 2021, Weidman had fractured his right leg in a horrifying snap in his fight against Uriah Hall. The MMA icon was watching from cageside.

Then, 847 days later, at the TD Garden in Boston, Rogan was in the commentary box to witness the former UFC champion make his comeback against Brad Tavares.

Chris Weidman’s doctor comforts Joe Rogan

The well-known podcaster shared his worries about how the 39-year-old's leg would hold up just before Weidman's comeback fight started. He said, “If it breaks again, I’m going to cry.”

Conor McGregor posted on social media to reassure the 56-year-old that Weidman's right leg is essentially unbreakable at this time. He took a jibe at Rogan and tweeted, “Joe, the bar inside the leg CANNOT snap.”

After having a metal rod placed into his leg to fix the tibia and fibula he shattered during his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier, "Notorious" has frequently boasted about his "titanium shin bone."

After putting his previously broken leg to the test when sparring with Ultimate Fighter competitors earlier this year, he'll aim to rebound when he faces Michael Chandler.

Dr David Abbasi, who is well known for uploading films concerning MMA injuries and teaching fans about the medical side of fight sports, instantly backed up McGregor's statement.

“Chris Weidman leg won’t break again on a leg kick Joe. Tibia has healed with titanium rod inside! #ufc292,” he confirmed.

Chris Weidman vs Brad Tavares

Weidman's right leg held up throughout his rematch, as anticipated by McGregor and Abassi, but Rogan still found it tough to watch.

Throughout the 15-minute fight, Tavares often used kicks, and Weidman was forced to leave the Octagon with a limp due to severe damage to his left leg.

It is now unknown if the 39-year-old would continue to compete if he isn't going to be a championship challenger following his seventh defeat in nine fights.

Weidman had intended to unseat Israel Adesanya in a few fights, but the fight made it quite evident that he is no longer capable of doing so.
