Country singer Becca Bowen explains how seeing BF at HER concert with another woman inspired new song 'Son of a Gun'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: A real tomboy with a tiara, Becca Bowen’s music has swayed many hips and fixed many hearts. On the one hand, her music has always been pretty outlandish. On the other, the story behind her most recent song, 'Son of a Gun', might be her wackiest one yet. The rising country music star, nicknamed 'Country Barbie' for her tomboyish nature and Southern Belle façade, recently recalled the heartbreaking day she saw her boyfriend with another woman at one of her own concerts.
Bowen began singing as early as the age of five. Most of her songs reflect empowerment and muses on failed romances from the past - the ones still fresh enough to keep the memories vivid. Nonetheless, Bowen acknowledges that she had no plans to record 'Son of a Gun' when she first thought of it, making the song premiere exclusively on People. Simply said, it was one of those tunes that originated from pure emotion.

Was it a friendship, an inspiration or both?
Becca has revealed that her "as easy as falling off a log" kind of friendship with a man served as the basis for the song's fiery narrative. Bowen had been acquainted with a man for more than six years who not only lived down the street from her but also shared many of her hobbies.
On being asked about love and relationship with her boyfriend, the South Carolina native told People, "We both are country folks.” Becca further stated that among other things, they enjoyed hunting and fishing as a couple.
Despite the fact that she and her boyfriend had a lot in common, they were unable to establish a stable relationship. She continued, “I've always desired more from relationships than just being friends with benefits, if you know what I mean.”
A silver lining to the cloud
After a rough patch, the two made a commitment to one another a few years ago, giving Bowen the impression that they were partners in a committed relationship. But, then came the twist. As Bowen walked the stage to sing the national anthem at a July 4th concert, she couldn't help but notice her "lover" was out in the crowd with another woman.
“The guy I was seeing was sitting there with another girl, so I looked out into the audience,” recollected Bowen, who released inspirational songs like ‘Who I Am’, ‘Glitter', and ‘How It All Went Down’ last year. She added, "The only thing I could manage to do was put on some sunglasses so I wouldn't be able to see. However, we did make eye contact, and from what I can remember, he simply raised his hands.”
Despite her heartbreaks, Becca Bowen is primarily a singer/songwriter who wants her listeners to forgive but not forget after an emotional setback. She continues to convey the theme of heartbreak and perseverance via songs like ‘Son of a Gun’, ‘Love It, Leave It’ and more. She sees herself as someone who won't settle for anything but the best. It's all or nothing.
