After the Dutton family's arch nemesis, Randall Clegg (Michael Cudlitz), kidnapped Andrea Cruz (Ash Santos) at the end of episode 8, Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) and his team of ‘Marshals’ go all out to rescue her in Sunday's episode. The latest episode is directed by Gonzalo Amat and is co-written by Tom Mularz and Maggie Schroeder. Additionally, the country singer Riley Green, who appears as the troubled Navy SEAL veteran Garrett, plays an important role in the mission and also performs his latest single, 'May Way' (released last week on April 17), to close out the episode. 'In Low Places' aired on April 26 on CBS.

In episode 9, Clegg livestreams Cruz’s kidnapping and broadcasts it to an online audience, intending to execute her publicly. Also, openly declares war on the Marshals team as revenge for his son’s death. Against Pete ‘Cal’ Calvin’s (Logan Marshall-Green) wishes, Dutton enlists Garrett’s help with the mission, and the latter helps the team discover an underground tunnel used by Clegg and his henchmen to stay undetected. The rescue mission is a total team effort, as Isabel ‘Belle’ Skinner-Turek (Arielle Kebbel) figures out that the live stream is coming from Clegg’s compound, and Miles Kittle (Tatanka Means) creates a diversion to buy his team some time at a crucial point in the mission. As the Marshals prepare to infiltrate Clegg’s compound, Dutton decides to keep Garrett out of the action, sensing that his buddy is not yet ready to return to full-blown combat.

When the Marshals storm into Clegg’s living room, he does not put up a fight. Instead, he has a gun pointed at his head and is seconds away from pulling the trigger. However, the team stops Clegg in time and arrests him to face the consequences of his actions. Dutton bursts out in anger, telling Clegg, "I really wish my father was still around so he could see Montana rid itself of the Cleggs." A defiant Clegg replies, "You may have wiped out my kin, but my family tree blossomed today. And I'm like the Duttons, my legacy is growing."

Despite his reservations about Garrett, Cal thanks his former teammate for helping out with the mission and seems ready to put their traumatic history behind them. "Roner still haunts me too. And as messed up as it was, it's sometimes easier to accept than what went down between us," Cal says. Garrett had arrived at Dutton’s doorstep last week in episode 8 alone and defeated, but he finds a sense of kinship with Dutton and his team. By the end of the episode, he decides to stay in Montana while figuring out his next steps.

After the mission, Garrett, the former-army-veteran-turned-musician, sings the romantic song, 'My Way' as the Marshals gather by the fire, under the cover of stars at East Camp. As he croons about longing for lost love, Dutton gets tearful thinking about Monica Long Dutton (Kelsey Asbille). He pulls away from the team, but Cruz follows him, and they share a moment under the stars, hinting at a potential romantic development. Cruz admits that she is happy to stay in Montana, "as long as I'm here, I'm glad I'm on a team with you," she tells Dutton. Watch the latest episodes of 'Marshals' on Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS or stream the episodes later on Paramount+.
