‘Marshals’ finale might have cameos from ‘Yellowstone’ stars as Luke Grimes teases intense cliffhanger ending
'Marshals' stars are giving long-time fans some hints about what they can expect in the finale. Luke Grimes, who plays Kayce Dutton in the hit show, teases that there could be some 'Yellowstone' cameos to look forward to in the show's run, according to TV Insider. On the other hand, Ash Santos and Logan Marshall-Green, who play Andrea Cruz and Pete 'Cal' Calvin in the series, respectively, claim that the show's freshman season will put their characters in some interesting places, with a cliffhanger looming over their heads. The finale titled “Wolves at the Door,” will air on CBS on May 24 at 8 PM ET/PT and later stream on Paramount+.
Luke Grimes, whose character from 'Yellowstone' kick-started the spin-off on CBS, shared that there is a good "chance" that certain characters from the flagship show will return in 'Marshals.' He did not specify when, which could imply that they may make an appearance in the finale. To date, eight episodes of the show have already been aired on CBS. In the seventh installment, his character struck up a romantic connection with Andrea. The actress behind Andrea calls the finale "beautifully written" and also reveals that everything ends on "a really intense cliffhanger." Fans, though, do not need to worry, as the show will return for a second season in the fall of 2026. The renewal wasn't surprising considering that the premiere episode gathered a viewership of 26.5 million, as per Variety.
Santos also shared that Andrea will undergo a massive transformation throughout the season, as per TV Insider. “In terms of Andrea, her journey through [Marshals], I feel like Season 1 wraps it in a beautiful way,” she shared. “She’s almost the complete opposite. How we met her is how we leave her.” Marshall-Green, who works as the chief of the titular team spoils that his character will have to deal with plenty of things. “There’s another big secret that Cal has to digest, and eventually that’ll come out,” Marshall-Green revealed. “He’s got a lot on his plate.” The finale has already been shot, but this did not stop the duo from unsettling the audience. The duo shared that their only hope is that their characters make it out alive from the finale. This implies that things could turn fatal in the upcoming finale.
The finale's synopsis has already been released. It reads, “After an assassination attempt against Broken Rock chairman Rainwater, Kayce protects him while the Marshals race to discover who’s targeting him. When a militia attacks, Kayce realizes the conspiracy is larger than anyone imagined.” The show has proven to be a blockbuster for the network. As per Nielsen viewership data, it is the second-most-watched show of 2026 after 'Stranger Things.' Marshall-Green hopes that the surprising success helps them to craft a well-rounded story. “So much of TV is trying to get as many chances as you can to tell a long-form story,” he added, “and these characters are so nuanced [thanks to] Spencer [Hudnut], the showrunner and writer, that we need as much time as we can get to really get to understand the nuances of the relationships. So it’s just amazing that we’re going to get another shot to continue meeting these men and women.”
