‘Vikings’ Season 6 predictions: Which of Ragnar Lothbrok's sons will kill Lagertha: Ivar, Hvitserk, Ubbe or Bjorn?

As the Seer prophesied in Season 5, Lagertha is supposed to die in the hands of one of Ragnar’s son. Adding the pieces of other events in her life, we could conclude that the final season might see Lagertha’s final days and we have our theories.

Lagertha (Kathryn Winnick), wife of the legendary Viking chief, Ragnar Lothbrok, and mother of Bjorn Ironside, is the strongest female character of the story. She is an epitome of power, beauty, influence, and ambition. And her fighting skills are the best among the women of her tribe. Ever since Ragnar left her for princess Auslaug (Alyssa Sutherland), she has proven herself to be worthy of a leader, creating her own community and becoming a Viking chief herself.

But, as they say, even the most invincible ones have a downfall at some point. In Season 5, we discover that the Seer (John Kavanaugh) predicts Lagertha’s fate. After Lagertha takes back Kattegat from Ivar (Alex Hogh), she is worried and her fear takes her to the Seer for answers. He prophesies that one of Ragnar’s sons would kill her. This understanding of her eventuality worries the shield-maiden, and as we see towards the end of Season 5, she lays down her arms in the pursuit of a peaceful life. But life seems to have other plans for her.

In the trailer of ‘Vikings’ Season 6, we see her back on the battlefield, fighting to her core. However, we have seen many times, how it is difficult for the most courageous Viking to outrun their fate, and hence, it makes us disappointed to see one of their favorite characters say goodbye.

But who could kill the female Viking queen? As the final season of the epic saga is all set to premiere on December 4, we start speculating on who could be responsible for Lagertha’s death.

Here are the possibilities:
Ivar The Boneless: He is the prime suspect since we know he is all out to seek revenge for his mother's (Auslaug) death, and he also loses his throne of Kattegat to Bjorn, has to escape town, and hide like a criminal. That gives him all the reasons to kill Lagertha.

Hvitserk: This is perhaps one of the most tormented characters we have seen so far. Ivar’s older brother keeps switching sides and is finally at a point where he wants to do the right thing. But he is also the kind who gets easily manipulated by brothers. If Ivar comes back and succeeds in brainwashing him, Hvitserk might also be the one to kill Lagertha.

Ubbe: Ubbe has grown and matured enough in the last season and he sees things the way they are. He is practical and not overly ambitious as his brothers. However, he has also not forgotten that Lagertha killed his mother and Bjorn took control of their father’s legacy. So, we will not be surprised if Ubbe kills Lagertha.

Bjorn: Though it may seem outrageous, there is always a possibility of Bjorn being the one to kill his own mother. After all, when it is the question of power and position, even the closest ones tend to betray.

If we have to look at historical facts, there is no evidence of how Lagertha died. However, the show’s creator, Michael Hirst, might decide her fate more creatively. Whether she will die fighting on the battlefield or become a subject of a sinister conspiracy is what we need to discover.

‘Vikings’ Season 6 will premiere on December 4, only on History Channel.
