The 'Vikings' fans had waited almost a year for this day. And as the show drops a marathon two-hour premiere of the final season, fans seem overwhelmed, not only with excitement, but also with the intensity of events and the tensions that will soon rise. The final season of History Channel’s ‘Vikings’ will become an important chapter in the history of the legendary warriors, more so, with the introduction of the Russian rulers of 8th century.

As @PattyJa46515626 comments, “#Vikings6 #vikingsseason6 amazing start to the new season!!!” And we couldn’t agree more. As the show opened, the first thing that stole our attention was a new setting. So far, in all the previous seasons, we were taken on a virtual journey of the lush green English countryside, the picturesque Frankia, and of course, the mighty Norwegian Fjords (which in reality was Ireland). But Season 6’s opening was dominated by the snow-clad mountains and foggy forests of Russia.

There were a lot of new but significant plot points that will soon become landmarks of the final season. Then there are shifting personas and transformation of characters like Lagertha and Hvitserk, which can also surprise us in the future.

An ardent fan, @joshuaespence, tweets, “What a great season premiere, they set up a lot of big storylines tonight. Looking forward to this season, but still sad it's ending. #HistoryVikings #Vikings”

Fans like @thedisneycrew19 are excited about the new characters, new settings and what they can expect in the near future. “So the Vikings Season 6 2 hour opener set the stage for the next 18 episodes and was kind of slow but it gave us some great character work, some new locations, a crazy kill done by a tree, and a looming battle in the future!! #Vikings #Vikings6 #History @HistoryVikings,” he said.

‘Vikings’ Season 6 airs every Wednesday at 9 pm ET, only on History Channel.
