'Vikings' season 5B episode 18 preview: Lagertha returns looking nothing like a Valkyrie and Freydis gives birth to supposed 'divine child'
Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) is back! But she looks nothing like a Valkyrie, a goddess of death. The shieldmaiden had gone missing after the battle with King Harald (Peter Franzén) where she witnessed her ex-lover Bishop Heahmund (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) brutally killed with an ax and arrows. It was speculated she would somehow make a return as a Valkyrie.
However, the promo teaser for the upcoming episode titled 'Baldur,' shows Lagertha is a mess. Appearing scared and scarred, she looks far from the fierce iron lady we knew her to be just two episodes ago. The trailer opens with Queen Judith (Jennie Jacques) asking in disbelief and kind of disgust: "Lagertha, is that you?" Then we see the former queen of Kattegat in rags, unkept short hair and dirt smeared all over her face, crouching in fear.
